Yes - she won't be getting out for a very long time. It's Hospital vs. Jail.

Would you rather she be locked up with Charles Manson or Marilyn Manson for the rest of your life? I think you'd choose Marilyn. I'd choose Charles for her *ss.

Well, it's not like she's ever going to see the light of day again, she will probably be sentenced to an asylum for the rest of her natural life...

Here is what the Chronicle article says with regards to confinement:

It is unknown how long Yates will be hospitalized, but she will be subject to periodic reviews by state District Judge Belinda Hill's court.

I don't have too much of a problem with this if she will be in a mental hospital for the rest of her life. I don't see how she could not have been insane when doing this, but I definitely have to defer to what the jury thinks here since they heard all the testimony.

I'd bet money she will out in her life time -I'm thinking in 10 yrs
when most folx have forgotten . .they will quietly
    release her back into society

    If she was minority
she'd be on a table with a needle in her arm

    this is total crap

I mean .. MURDER IN GENERAL IS CRAZY!

    Malveau is crazy
those 5 kids running around shooting people are crazy
    Most murderers are CRAZY

Wow, I didn't realize that no minority has ever been found not guilty by reason of insanity. According to some of my co-workers, no men have either.

If I heard correctly she wasn't tried for all the murders. There is a possibility she could be tried for the others. The prosecution could use that as a threat...stay in the mental hospital or else.

I don't understand it. She was insane when she murdered the kids. She was sane to stand trial. She is insane to be sent to prison so she goes to a mental hospital.

Now if she is rehabilitated, what happens? On trial for the other murders, can she be found insane again after being declared sane?

i agree that there is discrimination and racism rampant. even in the legal system. it's one of the many reasons i'm against the death penalty.

i don't believe yates was given a "favorable" verdict because of her race, RR.

The truth being that you have psychic/mental powers on the level of Charles Xavier and you knew that in every other case like this in the past that involved a minority, that when a minority was sent to prison instead of an asylum, it was because of racism?
