Problem with you and I have been watching your post throught the forum is that you an abusive arrogant unmitigated fool who thinks everyone has to agree with you and your school of thought. Nevermind that other people are entitled to their opinions. Now you are coming after me. Fine but don't ever expect me after this post of mine to ever from this time answer one of yours.

Eh, no big deal. We've already seen the Rockets are a 50-win team with Yao missing a few months. I'm sure we'll be a 70-win team under Adelman without him and a up-tempo offense that Les wants. Hell I predict the Rockets will be a 90 win team in the regular season we'll be so improved.

It's not that bad. I think Yao himself said he would use those games to practice the moves he learned from Dream. I am sure the intensity of the games will be less than the NBA regular season and Yao won't play 30+ minutes a game. Handled carefully, these games can be very helpful for Yao's recovery.

There is a big difference between becoming a spotup shooter and occasionally floating to the high post.

While such a strategy MAY have reduced the general wear and tear on Yao, I think it is sadly becoming apparent that our 2 stars are just injury prone and this is something we may have to live with regardless of style.

It sucks cuz my gut is telling me that we should unload both these guys before the BIG injury happens. Two max contracts for guys who are at 75 percent, 75 percent of the time can mean years of mediocrity. I hope I'm wrong.

High post/spot up has very little to do with this particular subject. If you start adjusting your tactics due to likelihood of injury - it's time to fold up the tent. I mean why not just add in a teamwide edict forbidding dunking or hitting the offensive glass since it can also cause injury. Or what if Tracy had decided not to drive when he was younger and simply spot up and have a long, injury free career as a slightly above average shooter rather than the player he was.

Injuries have always been a concern for Yao, simply because players that big put an inordiante amount of stress on their frames by virtue of their size. That (which essentially boils down to genetics) is what causes injuries in what is ultimately a contact sport. Posts that say he was ruined by playing in the low post are simply silly - that's part of the job description.

Oh I agree with with you on this point. ;)

Switching to high post MAY have had an effect but you absolutely right. You can't cater your style to the fear of injury. Maybe in football with a frail QB you don't run the wishbone but that's an entirely different situation. We don't even know if Yao's shoulder problems were caused by trauma. Sadly in the Rox case, Yao and TMac just might have short shelf lives.

Why??! Oh, why did we let Yao go one-on-one with Teh Dream!!? Even at a scrimmage power level, it was folly to think a mere mortal could bang with Hakeem and come away the same man. Oh, the hubris!

Disn't something like this happen last year? Yao told them his doctors in the US said he might not be fit enough to play in the off-season then the CNT reacted angrily by threatening to send Chinese doctors to the US to diagnose Yao themselves.

From the description of Yao Ming's shoulder condition in the article, and the acute pain he had when doing particular motion of his arm, he could be suffering from rotator cuff disease; just too much worn and torn that had damaged some of the soft tissues/tendon muscle......
