yao is never shaq, he cannot play like shaq and stays healthy, although he tried very hard to.
stop gaining muscles and play like okur. maybe his career can be a little longer.

Dudes got a great touch from the outside added with his height advantage and great passing skills makes it a real advantage. If you cant see that then there is something is wrong with you.

really, i have seen him play away from 10 ft and he's as avg as hell. and great passing skills? u seen the mfrom tape in china? until he proves it, stop dreaming.

maybe JVG tried yao away from the basket and all those things and saw how wack that was. u may diss JVG, but he's been the guy who has been the most there to help yao. he's the coach who has put yao in position to succeed.

so when i hear JVG say, outside of 10 ft, yao is ordinary. that's the truth. why? b/c i saw it v. the jazz.

yeah poor Yao, asked to play in the post and get rebounds. How dare anybody ask a 7-6 310 lb man to do something so dangerous and risky. It would be better if he just played counter strike in the locker room all day, that way he would never be injured at all.

BEXCELANT - your posts are at a Luffy1 level of intelligence. Goodbye. Say hello to Amel for me.

Ridiculous. He is 7'6 and needs to rebound and get easy baskets. Perhaps if he didn't play basketball ALL YEAR LONG (thank you China...though I understand them wanting him to play and his committment, though I don't agree) and got some much needed rest, he would have more time to heal.

Hakeem was smaller than Yao and seemed to handle it just fine.

And whoever said have him play like Okur, Yao doesn't have his range or passing skills.

I'm tired of hearing about Yao's supposed great touch from outside. I'm a big Yao fan, but let's be honest the outside shot is NOT his game. All you have to do is look at the Utah series for proof of that. When they forced him out of the paint he couldn't hit his shots.

Yao will never be Okur and frankly why would we want him to be? Shouldn't we aspire for Yao to play like a great center like Hakeem or Shaq as opposed to aspiring for him to play like an "all-star by default" center who chokes in the playoffs like Okur?

KG for Yao...Great Trade but it won't happen.

Can you say me what did happen to yao? What's with his shoulder? I don't remember any injuries with Yao.

From the article, it says it's an old injury, but somehow it got worse lately. The editor of the article says Yao works too hard and plays :( too much games, it took a toll on him.

    Mr. Glass,

This just in, we have the two most brittle 'superstars' in the NBA on the same team!

I think the situations have been different up until now.

Tmac's back was moreso viewed as a chronic problem that could curtail his career. Or permanently keep him at 80 percent.

Yao's injuries were moreso just injuries that would heal and not permanently effect his performance. The guy had a great track record up until 2 years ago.

My feelings about this have sort of changed though. Starting to look like both of the may be injury prone guys which just plain sucks.

Get it fixed. 75% strength is better than no strength for 3 month in the middle of a season. I will take a 75% Yao over an injured Yao who couldnt show becuase of physical fatique due to injuries.

Stop playing for the Chinese National Team and rest the entire offseason.

    That might help things

    But it won't happen

From another chinese article posted later there is good news and bad news:

good news: no surgery required for either the toe or the shoulder. conservative and physical therapy should be enough.

bad news: because of that, yao will join the national team this summer as scheduled.
