I'm pretty sure every Rockets fan is going to need to make a pilgrimage to this joint at least once.

Never been to Houston, only been to Dallas once. Is Houston good for Christmas Holiday?

Wow, thanks for the link, Faos. I am so there the next time we go the Houston. Are those aquariums behind the bar? I agree that Yao and his family look like people planning a long stay in Houston. Trader_J and I agree!

Absolutely not! I spent a Christmas in Houston a few years back, and it wasn't good at all.

There is just not that much you want to do in Houston. The weather's bad (especially in Summer, so Christmas is OK), too many people, horrendous traffic(I have a friend told me there is a highway called "the death road" or something like that, for lack of lighting device at night which caused alot of accidents), terrible air pollution and high crime rate (we were fleeing out of downtown when it's after 9:00pm).

Sorry, Houstonians, I love our team, but I don't like your town. If you want to spend a fun holiday in the West, go to San Diego/LA, Vegas, Tampe(the Fiesta Bowl's awesome), SF, Seattle or Boise (just kidding).

As a native Houstonian I would say...

probably not (it really depends on what you consider a good Christmas). Since it's warm here and almost never snows, it's not as easy to get into that Christmas feeling.

However, Houston has a LOT of restaurants and is a great city if you really enjoy eating.

They are still hiring. I think one of you guys in Houston should get a job there so we will have an inside track to Yao. :)

I'm wondering if they'll have Shainghainese soup dumplings (xiao long bao) Those things are great. I'm trying to imagine how big of a spoon I'll need for a Yao sized one.

Some other good stuff would be la mein (hand made noodles), nian gau (thick rice noodles), si ze tou (meatballs), Shanghainese ham, and tsong you bing (crispy green onion pancakes)

I'm getting hungry just thinking about stuff like that!

Two impressions after visiting that web site:

    1) Everything must be darn cheap in Houston! It cost only $1.5 M? Are you kidding me?

    2) almost everything on that web site is "coming soon":D
