Usually if you got piled on by the other posters on this board, it's because you are a moron. It's not a culture thing.
There was a play where YAO got a off board over the head of Shaq and YAO dunked the ball after shaq slammed on his head. It was on national TV.
in that game, with 11min. remaining in the 3rd Qt., Yao blew past Shaq and then dunked on Medvedenko. Shaq, though closer to Yao, didn't even dare to contest the dunk.
Great performance from Yao & CNT teammates in the last group game against Serbia/Montnegro! From Eurosport live: World champions Serbia and Montenegro are out of the men's Olympic basketball tournament after losing 67-66 to a Yao Ming-inspired China. The Houston Rockets centre played every second of the match, scoring 27 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, clinching a quarter-final showdown against Lithuania.
Hey, this is great. I've been waiting to see whether Yao could get past all the controversy and just respond by playing well and carrying his team to victory.
The significance of this video is NOT that Yao got dunked on, it's the fact that he is aquiring the mean streak required to dominate the NBA!!!
yao does get dunked on often cause he usually gets beat to rim cause of his slow foot speed and he doesnt have that great of a vertical. All i know is that Kobe Dunk on Yao was pretty embarrasing! hehe. Everyone does get dunk on in the NBA. Shaq seems to get dunked on the least i can't rememeber when the last time he got dunked on. Hakeem got dunked on by KJ. That was a mean one. Hakeem usually gets the upper hand cause he was quick and had a good vertical! He was 6'10 and blocks more shots then YAO!
I see replays of the Kobe dunk quite a lot. Yao will never be as quick as Hakeem (though I'd bet he's actually considered not-so-slow when compared with men who are 7'5" and up), so I think it's hard to expect him to get the kind of quickness blocks that guys like Hakeem and KG are known for. What he can do is, instead of trying to make a clean block and avoid body contact (which he seems to do most of the time), is jump directly toward the oncoming would be dunker and get his body in the path to the basket -- not anything dirty, but a give up a good hard foul where he keeps a hand up and goes for the ball but doesn't worry about it so much if his 300+ lb body happens to collide with the 220 lb guard. Make 'em think twice about it.
