the same scrubs that kept Bosh to 9 points and 7 rebounds this season? Let's give credit where credit is due. Yao has horrible games sometimes but Celtics are legitimate defenders.
we should never have an appreciation thread for a dunk yao should be doing all the time. once is okay tho, go rox, and i do keed
Only problem is that is all he does offensively and that doesn't work all the time in the playoffs unless your Shaq!
you mean the game where Yao gets blocked by the rim? bad example that you chose. Yao got some quick fouls and missed a bunch of easy shots and stopped playing defense and rebounding all together. I saw the game buddy. did you ?
you know.. I understand why people say a dominant center should do this 10 times a game... but there's DIFFERENT types of dominance. The 10-jams-a-game is D.Howard/ Shaq dominance. Yao dominance is turnaway jumpers, fluid baby hooks, Shanghai shakes, kickouts to the open man from double teams, and 85%+ free throws (and of course.. the 1 MONSTER JAM). Can you claim any other center does all that as well as he does? Don't mistake dominance with the ability to slam it 10 times a game. Would you consider Tyson Chandler "dominant"? He probably slams it more than any center in this league. Didn't think so...
Yao should always be in position to just dunk the ball/draw the foul ala David Robinson or Shaq. Yao has to consistently be the aggressor in games even when the rest of the team is slacking off. Seeing him work hard down low will charge up the other guys. Example is everything.
the most dominant dunk I even seen from yao, hi, yao, keep it on, we want to see if more from you, and you can do it.
I actually thought a softass layup was coming from the move. The rim looked a little bit too far for a dunk for Yao's usual move. Might be it's the camera angle. But Yao just exploded, leaped and extended his arm for a dunk. That's quick! That's powerful! That's the way to do it, big man! No softass layup! A rare moment!
I am really happy for Yao because this ferocious dunk will definitely give him confidence he needs and hopefully it shows today against SuperMan II. Honestly, I know Yao is capable of doing of this just about every game? right guys? i am euphoric about the dunk but still we should be seeing this kind of dunks at least once a game from Yao. Anyhow, it was great to see... Go Yao, dont go meow, but instead, GO POW.
Yao's "dominance"? What dominance are you talking about? the first round exit dominance or the injury plague dominance? Shaq won 4 rings and averaged stats that Yao will never ever come close to. So don't bother comparing Yao to Shaq... Some Yao fans are so blinded by this one dunk that they don't realize Yao is averaging career low numbers this season (excluding his rookie season)... On Nov 12 bawful putted up some really interesting stats. Shots (of Yao's) blocked: 14 Shots (of Yao's) blocked per game: 2.0. Effective field goal percentage on dunks: 60% Percentage of dunks blocked: 20% Percentage of inside shots blocked: 19% Percentage of close shots blocked: 21% Percentage of jump shots blocked: 9% Percentage of all shots blocked: 15%
lets see hows yao doing against D.H this time. if he got pwnd hard, no one would ever talk about "the best center in the league" topic again lol.
Lol did it really need its own thread? Has it become that rare for Yao to dunk on someone? He had a few monster jams last year, all more monsterous than this one.
right, robinson and shaq always dunk or draw foul...there is no inbetween game for them... there is no jump shot, hook, little fadeway, layup, passing out of double team for robinson and shaq
What was impressive was that he pinned down the very athletic and pretty strong, but young, rookie Javale McGee and then just threw down the hammer!!
