Why do you care if Yao didnt even care, when he was in the game all he did was shoot 3's lol Im sure he had fun and wasnt worrying about playing too much. Geez give the guy a break isnt he averaging 40 mins or close to 40 mins a game this year?
Unless Yao asked not to play, it really doesn't make sense that he played the fewest minutes of anybody on the West team. Especially when you consider that Kobe played less than 3 minutes which left only 11 players to share time. Yao played 3 minutes less than David West who played the second fewest minutes. Only two guys other than West and Yao played under 20 minutes and both of them played 5-6 minutes longer than Yao.
I am very happy for that he played only 13 mins for this critical period for rockets vying to playoffs in ASG while i am unhappy that he plays regular games for those >40 mins which is too much But he will have to play >40 mins for the playoffs
I don't want Yao playing a minute in an All-Star game. Imagine him getting hurt in a meaningless game. Only games, I care about Yao playing in are playoff and Championship series. He's been there 4 or 5 times, so what and let's move on.
he did ask not to play much....which is why this thread should be over....or as Kenny Smith would say, "Ova!"
Yao doesn't have the right mindset for an all-star game. Early in the game, he got the ball inside only to make some lame move to the basket and he got his smack stuffed. He was in position to do a lot more on that play than lay it up like a softie and then cringe like he always does when the reject came. Everyone knows Yao can score. However, this game is for showing off...something Yao isn't great at. It doesn't matter how many minutes Yao gets given that. Noone wants to watch him try to post up in a game like this. It's boring.
Who cares, Yao came out injury free from the All Star game. What if he got injured playing extra minutes? Then all u fans would be crying about the heavy minutes he played in the all star game.
Well, he's effective, not pretty to watch. But Hakeem was pretty to watch, but never in the all-star game. All-star games are about showing off - something Yao rarely will do. Plus those guys are looking for the alley-opps and such, not to run a post-up game.
its because byron scott doesnt like yao. last year he said shaq was a better center. anyway those games dont mean nothin to yao. hes a real player. he wants to play real games and compete for a championship.
Naaaaaaah, he was just trying to get relaxed, show off to the fans some of his skills and range and be entertaining.....which is what the NBA All Stars Game is all about. He said if he had made his first trey with his right hand, he would try to shoot the second one with his left. He also said he never missed a trey 3 times in a row.
Brad Miller. I could be wrong but I don't remember anyone since. During the 2004 all-star game, he injured his foot/ankle and missed the first seven games of the second half of that season. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/allstar2004/news/story?id=1736179 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/teams/schedule?team=sac&year=2004
The All Star game is not Yao's game. They were just running and dunking. Howard is a punk though. Intentionally fouling Yao so he couldn't dunk. Ahole.
Yao don't have the personality for the All-Star game. If he did he'd bring out his best showtime moves and bring it to the show. Yao just likes to stay humble. He should forget the 3 ptrs. Duncan certainly has. I looked at the shot chart and for the most part, the West was content to throw up long distance bombs while the East played some real basketbal.
Yao was just having fun while Howard was trying to prove himself in a meaningless exhibition game. He absolutely should have let Yao finish that shot. He probably wouldn't have bothered if it was anybody but the one center that many still believe is better than him.
