Wow, that's like saying "hey all the other idiots are jumping off the cliff, I think I'll join them!". That's pretty idiotic in my book. Didn't your momma ever teach you that lesson? Way to make her proud dude. You know what else is idiotic? The idea that you actually sit around and look forward to "trade Yao" threads. That's really idiotic. Oh wait, I forget that you're challenged by the obvious - things like 22pts/21rebounds. How silly of me.
Who was expecting that, unless I've missed something here? I thought we made it clear that Yao won't be another Shaq? I just want Yao to be Yao which is good enough for me...
Go suck a nut, Jerry boy! Rockets just won a gutsy, hard-fought game (w/o TMac), and instead of being happy with this win - you go on a tirade spewing the same old redundant garbage about how Yao is such a huge dissapointment to you, lacks mental makeup to be clutch, .....blah, blah, blah. Fess' up now, it kills you to see Yao doing well. It's glaringly obvious you have a personal hatred towards him. Yao ain't goin' nowhere bud!! He's a Rocket, whether it chaps your ass.... Live with it!!! I guess it's just a coincidence the Rockets all of the sudden have been playing well since his return. I guess TMac is hallucinating when he says Yao is playing out of his mind and is aggressive and confident....how with he and Yao, the Rockets are one hell of a team. How JVG echoes the same the same sentiments that with Yao and Tracy, they are a good team. Go ahead and keep downplaying the effect Yao has in games. If you have been watching the games like you say you have, you'd see the countless intimidations and changed shots he creates that don't show up on the stat sheets. The Rockets lost 15 of the 21 games Yao missed. And that was during the SOFTEST stretch of the Rocket's schedule. The games in which Yao was without Tracy, the stretch was brutal...playing the likes of Miami, San Antonio, Detroit, Indiana, Dallas, Phoenix, and Memphis. Not to mention, Wesley's shooting was non-existent at the time coming off knee surgery and the team lacked the chemistry it has now. Think about that for awhile, Jerry boy.
Here they are, post injury through 2/25/2006: 12 games 32.4 minutes/game 20.1 ppg (24.8 points/40min) 1.0 apg (1.2 assists/40min) 10.6 rpg (13.1 reb/40min) 1.8 bpg (2.3 blocks/40min) 1.3 tpg (1.6 turnovers/40min) 50.3 fg% (7.9 fgm/15.8 fga) 81.0 ft% (4.3 ftm/5.3 fta) That's pretty good, and it includes the debacle at Phoenix when he collected only 6 points and 0 rebounds. The number I'm particularly impressed by is his turnovers. He's making his decisions with the ball faster and being more assertive, and as a result he's not losing the ball nearly as much. I mean, having less than 2 turnovers a game with his kind of production is just outstanding.
God WTF stop b****ing about which one is more important. By the numbers, T-Mac is, BUT THIS TEAM WAS BUILT AROUND BOTH OF THEM. We need both playing, we want both playing, and our record is 18 - 8 when both are playing. T-Mac has no problem sharing the ball with Yao or other Rockets, Yao has no problem not taking the shots. Yao will always try to establish himself early, T-Mac will always be the go-to guy in the clutch, whether he shoots or sets up a play is up to him. He knows what to do. Yao will go with the flow, that's how it is been and I'm sure that's how it will stay. EDIT: By go with the flow, I don't mean Yao won't demand for the ball, but he will not ruin the flow of the game, or whatever the play/game plan is to get the ball and score. T-Mac does a good job finding Yao or other players when they are open and getting them the ball. Trust T-Mac. Both will always be a force in the game. The games where T-Mac does great, we win, the games where Yao does great, we win, the games where they both play good, we win.
one thing's for sure, people have been hoping Yao would become a 20-10 player, and at least for 12 games, he has. So... this could be one of the best signs yet. p.s. -- I don't own a tv, either...
this is what yao should be doing every night from now on. he's actually a point higher than mcgrady in efficiency. he should pull down 12 boards a night from this point forward! i mean, if big ben (9 inches shorter) can do it, why can't yao?!
And we have yet another person who believes height is the only indicator of rebounding ability. Do me a favor and see if you can name a single player 7'3" or taller that has ever averaged 12 rebounds a game in a season.
i don't rebound when i play. how was he able to grab 21 rebounds last night then? or what about his handful of games this season when he grabbed over 10 rebounds? didn't he grab 17 some nights before? it's not like he's not capable of doing it.
Dennis Rodman who arguably is the best rebounder in the league in the last 20 years is 6'8". NBA players with decent leaping ability can easily make up the 10 inches they give up to Yao in height.
Chris Kaman is a decent player. He's not all that quick. Yao is much taller, but not much slower, therefore he can get his hands on more boards. Adonal Foyle is a joke of a center. Andris Biedrins is young, has a lot to learn, and still got his hands on a lot of offensive boards last night. Yao does good against teams with no real big man or no real game plan against him. Yao can really only grab the boards that come within the reach of his arms most the time, although I saw many times where he left his spot to get some and used his hands to tap the ball into a better position to catch it (against the Warriors). He needs to do that more often. He NEEDS to want to go and get every board, to get his hands on every ball that comes his way, to send back every shot, he needs to have that bull dog mentality, and against the Warriors last night, he had it.
