Yao's problem with consistent high PPG is because he's not a volume shooter. If the guy gets double-teamed, or has an off shooting night, he simply stops shooting. This is quite unique. It's much more often that star players keep on shooting even when they can't hit anything for the night. Heck, even average players like Jim Jackson does it. But Yao doesn't. And that's what needs to be changed.
33 against the MDP & Kobe; 28 against KG; 29 against Dirk. That kind of play earned him his first and well deserved West conference POW honor last season.
Yao also looked to be making much quicker moves without hesitation last night. I was impressed to see him catch and dunk the ball while running in transition, and to spot an open man and kick it out while halfway into a low post moves. All of which were things I didn't see him do much lof last season. He's certainly progressing. Evan
I feel the same way. Yao is certainly capable of hitting 30 every time if we consistently going to Yao.
Yao is averaged near 22 pts and 10rebs in those 4 games despites taking only 13 shots per game, pretty impressive I might add.
Now tell me this fellow posters, how does Yao shooting near 63% FG can only take about 13 shots per game ? it's a damn travesty if you'd asked me!
