In the last four games: 21 pts 9 rbs vs. Ind 20 pts 6 rbs vs. Orl 22 pts 12 rbs vs NYK 22 pts 10 rbs vs Orl
Just take a look at his stats and they are quite impressive... Last 4 games FG 7-12 FT 7-8 FG 8-12 FT 4-6 FG 9-14 FT 4-4 FG 9-14 FT 4-5 or over those four games, he has FG 33-52 or 63.5% and FT 19-23 or 82.6%!!! Pretty consistent, and I guess what everyone was hoping for at the beginning of the season. That's very very very good. Now only if he can get more FGA... So who wants to trade Yao again?
I remember Yao had a string of three 30 pts game against some very good teams last season (Dallas, Minnesota and ?). He is capable if he can get the ball consistently in the paint.
True. But don't forget that Yao has been getting majority of his points outside the paint. His jumper has been falling and boy does it look sweet. I do think JVG needs to do a better job of getting Yao the ball earlier in the play. Our offense is allowing defenses to set up on Yao and either front him or just deny the post pass. Yao is much better when he gets the ball early and shoots it quick.
if yao is going to maintain this consistency then he must consistently stay out of foul trouble. this is the single biggest thing limiting his numbers. if he isn't in foul trouble all the time then he probably gets in another 4 minutes a game. i'm not gonna extrapolate the numbers he has now to what it would likely be with 4 extra minutes, but he would easily be a 20/10 guy. anyone disagree?
I was wondering about Yao's stats the last few games. Pretty nice indeed! I think he benefits from those games in which teams play him one on one or with a big slow defender and not do double teams with quick defenders. Nevertheless, I really like the energy I am seeing out of Yao the last 4 games. He is rebounding and getting up and down the court. I dont see him all that tired either. His conditioning has really improved. Seems like his confidence is also rising.
What Deuce said. And it's also the big elbow pad....he's adjusted without the pads and that's the main reason why he's got his touch back and his confidence has grown quite a bit because of this.
Hell i wouldnt care if Yao averaged 10 ppg as long as he did it consistent. Thats wat matters most, IMO.
that would be awfully dissapointing. yao is inconsistant because he doesn't get the ball consistantly. even last night w/o tmac the team forgot about him way too much.
He looks good when he's not playing against the physical and fronting defenses. Until he counquer those types of defenses, he will remain weak.
Well id b pretty pissed if he only averaged 10 ppg too lol but my point was i just want to see grab rebounds and score more consistantly. Last time i checked he was the "superstar" not Sura or Wesley so he should demand the ball and chew them out if he dosnt get it. Yea, yea, yea I know its not his thing but it would work... It did for the DREAM!
