Ming cited his own quote last year to emphasize he felt like in a family with Rockets, with Steve, Kato, Cat. Now it has to start over (in terms of building relationships).

Guess a Chinese GRE wouldn't be that easy. ;)

I just can't help but remind everyone that T-Mac wanted to play wiht Ming. Steve didn't at first but he turned around. Ming is one of those guys that everyone will love to play with and be friends with. He will "make new friends" just as he did when he first came to the Rockets. It's not what he wanted to do but it's part of the NBA. Trades happen.

Besides, I think he may miss Cato more than anyone realize. He knows he can't play 40+ minutes and with Cato, the team is OK while he rested. Now that Cato is gone, he will feel more pressure to last longer in the game. The problem is he doesn't have the stemina yet so there is added presure for him now that Cato is gone.

We need a decent back-up badly so that Ming will feel comfortable while resting.

And just as Steve got over the trade of Moochie in a week or so, "Steve was upset for a week", Ming will get over the lost of the 3, but I'm sure it will take a little longer.

I sure hope Boki gets better so that he will be part of the Rocket's long term solution. I think Boki and Ming are good friends also.

he'll learn soon enough how to give Mcgrady Da Damn Ball!

he wants to be the next Vlade or Sabonis right? so here's his chance.

People are quick to forget that the Rockets reportedly asked Yao about the McGrady deal and he gave it his blessing. It's obvious he's going to miss Francis and Mobley, they were good to him. I'm willing to bet that Tracy McGrady will do everything he can to become friends with Yao.

    I won't worry about it a bit.
I don't know if Yao will develop same type of friendship with Macgrady off the court but I'm sure he'll has a 'more satisfying basketball playing experience' with Macgrady on the court.

yao can be friends with steve in the offseason. i understand his feelings but he will be more than fine when the t-mac/yao combo is lighting the league up. he's a loyal person and i think the rockets have built a team that he will feel great to be a part of. but just to be on the safe side i'd go ahead and keep boki around anyways. :) besides i think he's a good player.

Yao says starting over in the sense of building relationship with the NEW teammates, not like he's going to leave the Rockets and start over again ....so don't take it the wrong way. Of course he hates to see his friends leave since they have been so closed together for 2 years...who wouldn't? But the reality is he's got to wake up and say hey maybe this is something good here....maybe this will mean Championship......so instead of feeling sad....he should embrace what is good ahead of him and not even look back. And i have no doubt he will.....it will take just ONE game for him to get over it next year!

No, it was Cat who wanted to trade the first pick for Lamar. Since Cat & Steve were close, people thought Steve was also unhappy, but Steve was always supportive of CD & Rudy's plan of drafting Yao from the beginning.

Hey, I'm sad Francis is gone as well, and I've never even met him. But I'm also pumped about the Rockets starting over. I can't help but feel that Yao isn't pumped as well.

Make that "is pumped as well." Mental note: Give to tip jar; get ability to edit.

Yao's feelings are genuine. Shows that he cares about his teammates. I wouldn't want it any other way.

When Yao gets to Rockets training camp with Tmac, they have a season together, they reach new heights with this team, Yao will become VERY fond of Tmac and I am sure they will become best buds.

    Just give it time. ;)

Winning means more than friendship. If Yao thinks otherwise, which I don't think he would, I don't want him in Houston.

Something got missed in translation, i think. I'll try it.... late translation?:p

A cover of Yao by phone (Author: 陈文佳/ Source: Titan Sports)(July 1-local time)

TITAN: I heard that you strained your ankle last warm-up, what about it now?

Yao: It's fine and doesn't affect my practice yet. Everyone here(in CNT) try hard in trainings so as not to be one of those 3 guys get cut out. You can get a clue about our attitude towards the practice by just hearing the sounds yelling out of our mouths thereof...you can even say, that's scream.

TITAN: As a veteran & the vice-leader in CNT, what's your opinion about those rookies&their performance in the team?

Yao: Yi Jianlian (a 18 yers old guy play PF/C) has made great progress. When I watched his game at the Nike game in SA.(San Antonio) this April, he didn't play quite well. But right now just after two months, he has made a clearly improvement in the trainings with CNT.

TITAN: Have you seen the NBA Draft on live ?

Yao: I just care about Rox, leave along anything else. (Laugh) oh, and I know Ha Seung-Jin (a Center from South Korea) was picked by Blazers, right? I had thought he would be drafted at latter picks in 1st Round. (sorta sarcastic tongue in chinese)

PS, Several months ago, a poster(probably from SK) bashed Yao in an impolite manners at Yao's site by saying that Yao is a cheap guy comparing with Ha Seung-Jin. and this "famous" post incurred flood of flame followed... Yao read & heard it later, felt uncomfortable of course... so ya know what I mean:p

TITAN: The T-Mac for Francis trade has been done. You kown it, right?

Yao: I know you'd ask it(Yao said it with kinda emotional tone). Right now the media no matter from China or American, the first question they'd ask me is "What would you feel like playing with T-Mac?" "I've answered it dozens of times. In the NBA, players are like commodities. Trade within teams is quite a common thing. Maybe one day, say me, would get a phone call from CD, told I had been traded to Bobcats... Since I've entered in NBA, I've got to face the reality, to adapt to the freaking rule.

TITAN: There are some medium reported that they (referring to Cat, Francis and Cato)didn't send you enough passes, however would you really like to see them gone?

Yao: I admit I'm really reluctant to see them gone. As yet I still retain clearly that it's Cat & Francis who passed me the No.11 shirt at CC when I came to Houston for the first time. especially Francis, he help me a lot these 2 yrs. He's not only the best mentor to me but also my best friend in the NBA. Seeing him gone is just like the feeling I get when a family member lost, and the feelings (I got) when I left Shanghai Sharks at that time.

TITAN: sorta like (the situations) when moochie left to NY last season?

Yao: Yeah. Francis was sadden about the deal for nearly a week, now I got the same feelings like he did then. I once said in the end of my rookie season, " 'I would still choose Rockets without hesitation if I got the second chance to select which NBA team I'd love to play for'; and yet now everything will turn over a new leaf... ... " (various meanings base on how to interpret it...)

    LOL :)

That is ridiculous. Trade a 27 year-old overrated point guard for one of the bona-fide top 5 players in the league and regret it? OK, whatever.
