i think nba organization would like select Yao ,to whom asg is more a commercial action than a commonweal!
At the same time there comes the special Yao,a lovely giant!so yao instead of shaq is the best selection!

Oh, believe me, I'm sure the NBA PR people wet themselves when they found out that Yao would be starting in the All Star Game. Now don't get me wrong, Yao does deserve to be in the All Star Game; he just doesn't deserve to be starting.

Face it, people are tired of Shaq and his style of play. He's a thug, a brute, an oaf. Every Laker's game i watch i hate him more. He gets away with elbowing, over-the-backs, 3 second violations, charges, you name it. And i bet you many fans of the other 28 teams feel similarly to me. So why is it a big surprise that he got outvoted? America is tired of shaq.

You can whine all you want, but the simple fact is Yao got more votes in the States too. More people want to see Yao play.

    Live with it.

Talking smart does not make you more intelligent. I choose not to bring myself down to that level to respond to your next reply.

    KeepKenny,

You hit the nail on the head about Shaq. His overweight build and barbaric style of play are more suited for the football field than the basketball court.

He may possibly be the most dominant player in the history of sports to have the least skill.

Arkoe, if that MSNBC article reflects your opinion, then you're a moron, as I suspected even before I read that article?

I'll give you credit on the Chinese vote part because you said you disagree with it. Fact is, Yao led paper ballots in the US as well. What about others?

Shaq stays mum about Yao voted the starter? When's the last time Shaq stayed mum. He's moving his fat trap right now. He'll get blamed for racism if he gripes? Having a little fun with Chinese? That's not Chinese, that's a moron making an ass out of himself on National television. No he didn't stay quiet either. And to think I used to respect Shaq.

The ASG never was a pure all bball game. It is about media attention. Let me repeat, IT IS ABOUT MEDIA ATTENTION. If it's actually a real ball game then Kobe didn't deserve to play on in the ASG in his first season either and Vince Carter shouldn't play this year. And TMac would get knocked flat on his ass going for that off the backboard dunk cuz people would actually play some D (what a concept).

The game against the lakers, you're acting like Shaq got 31 pts and 11 boards on Yao. I'll tell you this, Shaq got no more than 19 points on Yao, and most of them were when he got tired in the 4th/OT. It also happen to occur when Yao was dead tired and hit the wall AND our guards weren't invovling him on offence as much because of the bad stretch. Here you are comparing a rookie against an established player. Well guess what, Hakeem schooled Shaq big time when he first came in the league so Shaq must suck huh? Bottom line, 10/10/3 dimes/6 blocks against the 19/8 of the most dominant player in the league when playing tired is DAMN GOOD.

I've been waiting for someone to bring that point up about how a significant % of O'Neal's #'s that game came against Cato.

Excellent point there along with the other facts you mentioned.
