Yao's English is getting better (or should I say worse?)

    I still wonder why everyone is so obsessed with this. The guy said ****. Big deal. I have no doubt the guy cursed before this, just not in English. It's not like he was an 8 year old when he started playing for the Rockets or some sheltered country kid who'd never been to the big city.

    This is a grown man who had been playing professionally for years travelling all over the world.

    I don't think we give him nearly enough credit for being worldly. There was an analyst from the Wizards on 790 today saying he thought Yao suffered from the "he doesn't show alot of emotion on his face, so he must not be very passionate about the game" syndrome.

    In reality, our shock, surprise or glee over his cursing on camera is no different than people who have criticized him for being soft. Clearly, a lot of us think the same thing. We just defend him for it instead of criticizing.

    They pronounce it Varejan in NBA2K6 for some reason.

    The only reason I or anyone else took notice of this is because the camera was directly on him when he said it, and he isn't known for his cussing (in English anyway). Doesn't mean I think he's soft...just means that I don't normally hear him cuss and thought it was funny that he was caught on camera so blatantly. But let's continue to over analyze.
