that play got me out of my seat last night! Does anyone know if Yao's dunk made NBA TV's or Sportscenter's top ten plays?
*drumroll* (my first clutchfans post, though I've visited the board (and espns) for 2 years, but never joined for fear of it being expensive). This may have already been said, but I was afraid that they would call the offensive foul for sure. I say this because, although Malik was clearly not outside the circle, it seems like our guys at times receive lucky calls like that (Battier, Scola). Hopefully, I am just not giving those two the credit they deserve. I love them, and I know they work really hard and hope they continue to get the calls!!!
I almost can not believe it did not crack top ten! Heck. I would have been fine with it being #10. It is Yao. That is disappointing. He RARELY makes a drive like that, and it does not make it on there. Yao would have it this way, anyways. Let's fly under the radar. Pistons of the west, but better, lol. We probably would have had more of a chance for that handle last year with Van Gundy..
Sorry. I can't see the videos on my iPhone. Just saw sportscenters top 10. Yao's dunk was 5th. Nate Robinson's 3 was 6th. On a side note Tyler Hansborough had the number one play dunking on some massive post player. The guy looked 8 feet tall! Who was that guy?
Oh, well, at least it made the ESPN top ten (far more watched than NBA TV's top ten, which I was referring to). Kudos YaozA!!
The 7-7 guy that there is a thread for in the Draft forum. Edit: here's the thread link http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=140641
I don't see how that's a travel either. Maybe, maybe, he carried the ball a little right before he picked up his dribble, but even that can be argued. Looks good to me.
First of all, calling Hakeem's move a travel should get you a 1 week minimum ban. But if you watch very closely Hakeem jumps off his right foot when his left foot is his pivot foot. But it's very close. Compared to what they let players get away with in the NBA, that move was nothing. Greatest move by a big man ever? It would get my vote. But back to the original post, Man, that dunk was freakin' awesome! I was surprised Yao didn't yell afterwards like he will do every now and then, but he was probably shocked they didn't call him for an offensive foul (even though it was clearly a blocking foul).
Yes it was a travel, and definitely an offensive foul. And know what? I wish Nate Robinson was there in stead of Malik Rose, cause he would've blocked that dunk like last year
I liked how Walt "The Human Dictionary" Fraiser called the replay. "...Watch the dexterity, the agility and the hostility here as he dunks on Malik Rose."
Walt Clyde Frazier is one of the best there is.... in Basketball AND commentating. The knicks crew is very un-biased. They're great.
Kenny George - some 7'7" player for UNC-Asheville. I watched both games last night (I'm a Heels fan too) and the difference between that guy and Yao in terms of athleticism and skill level is REALLY striking. Yao just seems light years better than that guy and way more in shape - he was huffing and puffing just getting down the court.
he jumped off both feet, therefore not a travel. he never really used his right foot as a pivot foot, i.e. he never picked up his left foot to swing his left knee up to get momentum, using his right foot as pivot. so for all practical purposes it was a two footed jump. if you want to get overly technical and scientific, when it comes down to it there's no such thing as a perfectly two footed jump, ever. one foot will always leave the ground before the other foot, even if it's as little as by a few milliseconds, nanoseconds, picoseconds, whatever. therefore it's a judgment/perception call, and to me that looks lilke it should be judged a two footed jump. not a travel. and i agree about the ban. sacrilege!
