All Yao needs is more experience. The day will come again (several times) where he will have opportunities like last night's to win the game with his shots in the final seconds. And he's gonna miss many of those. But having those experiences behind him will help him be more at ease in the future.

Didn't MJ have a commercial about how many game winners he missed? It's going to happen once in a while...

He might've missed because of fatigue. He takes a terrible pounding in the paint.

Don't take it too hard. There's always another game. I don't want him to become Nick Anderon :)

Yes, because clearly the problem is he doesn't want to make them enough.

He was so good last year because he didn't care... 4th quarter free throws were just free throws.

The sooner people stop talking about it and get him thinking about it, the sooner he'll shoot his way through it. Any "choke" comment should be balanced by the two buckets he made to bring the team back from 4 down. He doesn't even shoot those FT's if both those shots don't go down.

Yao missing the free throws is a problem but he was probably tired. However without his two hook shots to tie us at 91 the free throws would have been irrelevant. What troubles me more is the fact that we had the lead going into the fourth quarter and let Portland go on a 13-2 run to take the lead. If we would have played better ball in the fourth to begin with we wouldn't have put Yao in that position.

Though it almost gave me a heart attack, I don't regret that the Rox put Yao in that situation. He needs to learn how to deal with the pressure (actually, the whole team needs to learn) so that we can be confident in the play-offs.

Every time Ming says something, it reminds me why I like him so much as a person. He is a wonderful representative of China. I am not a Yao-only fan, but I am a big fan. I just hope to see him become a really dominant player. He still has a long way to go, but he is further than I thought he would be at this time.

It happens in the game of basketball, and it will probably happen again to Yao and just about everybody else on this team again later. As long as its not a consistent thing I won't criticize any player on this team for an instance of this happening.

As long he doesn't get Nick Anderson syndrome and let it affect him in the long run, he should just move on and forget it. Winning the game makes that ALOT easier to do.

I'm still waiting for the barometer readings from last night before making a final determination., but I have it narrowed down to one of two things. The Rockets current record has caused to hell to freeze over. Thus icing Yao when he step to the line. It could be that, or quite possibly Saturns proximity to Earth has caused a pressure change that Yao has not adjusted for.

It's okay, Yao, it happens to lots of guys. You were probably just tired. Or maybe it was the alcohol. It's not that big a deal. There are lots of other things we can do together---rebound, pass, play good defense.

Sure, a fan likes the Free Throw sometimes---don't get me wrong!---but our relationship doesn't always have to be about that. Some times you're not in the mood, I understand. Don't beat yourself up for it.

But is it me?!!?! Do I not make you try hard? Maybe there are some other fans you're thinking about. Maybe I'm not enough for you anymore.

Yao should listen to his mother.

    She knows it's mental.

I really don't care about his two free throw misses from last night's game anymore, but if he does it again then there is room to worry. We won the game, so it all worked out.

Although I will admit I almost crapped my pants, again, when his last freebie was a clanker. ;)

Oh, and don't forget that his mother played basketball, and you know she's been in situtations where she had to hit crucial FTs.

She knows: Been there, done that.

In the end, Yao has to prove it on the court.

I agree. We won. But the reason that people are noticing this is because you can TELL that's it's all about nerves. He's scared about missing, and thus misses. That's an issue.

Remember the Golden State game? He did the same thing: missed two FT at the end. Cato hit one, missed one, and saved the game.

It's noticeable because he IS one of our stars, and it's makes fans nervous when one of your stars is "scared of losing" in crucial situations. You would like your stars to be "mentally strong" in those situations. You know?

He should not worry about FTs...cuz when you think and worry, that's when you miss. FTs should be a piece of cake for him. Shyt happened in the game and he should just glad they won the game.

That miss almost caused me a heart attack. I finally decided to lose my weight after last night's game. ;)
