I wonder why he wasn't able to adjust during the half time. Was Adelman busy eating Big Mac when Yao was not even sure whether he should touch the ball again? Or was he calling Morey for a backup center? I hope it's the second case.
Yao had a bad night, but you should not blame it entirely on him. Artest had an awful night too 3-10 in FT and His FG% was awful as well. Some of you have to look in Yao's good games and not take that for granted. It reminds me of Duncan, of how when he sucks everybody points the finger at him, but when he is good nobody cares
I hope they sit down with Yao and Artests and talk about their 7for 30 shooting. Yao missed sum dunks too. He really losts his confidence after getting into foul trouble. I expect he will make some statement in the next game.
Yao plaed horrible on offense, but what suprised me was his defense. I understand it it was Okur or whoever. But he got eaten by Kendrick Perkins and Kendrick did that with his outside game. Just unbelivable
He has trouble getting up for dunks now, easily defending his own shot with the rim. Tonight--point blank, wide open untouched dunk--rimmed it. He was too far under, but Yao would easily make those. Imagine losing a playoff game in this fashion. Dallas game--light touch on Yao's arm and he missed a dunk. Is this just Yao building up his stamina or has all these injuries finally taken their toll? I think with rest and reduced minutes he will be fine. Bring back mutombo.
I'd do that, but we couldn't get true value in return for him. There just isn't enough garbage in the world. Back on subject though. Yao had a bad game. He just couldn't elevate. That worries me. Ray Allen was hot and when that happens, few people can stay with him. However in a 4 point loss to the champs, the real reason we lost was Perkins hitting all those open 10-12' shots. He hasn't done that in his career. Had he shot his normal rate, we could have continued guarding 5 on 4.
No question Yao was a waste of space today. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fewer practices Adelman was going to do with Yao.
No doubt, it was bad night. And think that was it...a bad night. Gotta hand it to the Celtics defense also. They were relentless. This was ONE bad game compared to all the other good games Yao has given us. No worries, he'll redeem himself.
Yeah, 3 steals is pretty bad defense. Having an extremely fragile knee is a plus and should boost T-Mac, but instead it drags him down. You've got to trade him.
Are you being sarcastic? Tmac is the one who kept us in the game tonight. If Yao didn't suck that much, we would be 4-0 now.
I wasn't so much disappointed by him having a bad game. It happens. What I didn't like is that he let his bad performance get to him. I hadn't seen that since his first year under JVG. Offensively he looked totally out of sync, defensively I thought he did OK considering he was playing with three fouls.
I think the positives out of tonight we can take: Statistically this one was an anamoly. Kendrick Perkins somehow had offensive game, Yao Ming did not. If Rafer Alston doesn't suck an unholy amount of ass on both sides of the court we probably win too. All in all we showed a lot of heart tonight to come back when I think last year's team wouldn't have come close to putting together a 25-4 run. We gave the world champs hell tonight, and if a few odd things didn't happen we would have come out with a victory. Its still early in the season and I think we are building toward great team chemistry.
This is probably the worst games ive seen Yao play. Hope he is not injured or anything. If not, he'll bounce back next game. Well I rather he struggle now than in the playoffs.
This game showed why we need Mutombo, cause Yao will have games when he gets in foul trouble or when he goes out the backups get completely dominated on the boards by the other team's size. Mutombo will just provide a safety net that we need, he'll pull down the rebounds and be a force on the defensive end.
Yao was horrible. OK, we got the picture. But for everyone saying we lost because of him do not think. If we would have played without him it would have been a same case scenario. Perkins was having a good day on the outside, a once in a blue moon thing. KG was himself, killing shots. We didn't have height regardless to stop these two without Yao inside. So with or without Yao we would have done the same. Rafer was a different story, there was a replacement for him. But again if Yao wasn't in there wouldn't be anyone other duo to stop Perkins or KG tonight. So be ignorant and say it was Yao's fault but if we took him out and same story whose fault now? Just admit that Boston played a hell of a game. Tmac is still recovering (and honestly so is Yao) and Battier isn't here.
it was just one game, no need to worry.. i think after he got hung on that dunk his moral just dropped and was anxious throughout the game after that.. i think it shows a lot that as bad as the game was for us, we still kept the game so close.. Keep your heads up.. nobody wins them all
If you watched Utah series, you'd have seen this Yao two years ago. I've said all along since then: Yao is simply not good at basketball, physically and mentally.
