damnit heypee, u turn my bball libido up!!! lol.

the statement about feeling the defense with your back could not be more correct. I played the game (as u know) and u are spot on! I've been wanting yao to do this for years. with ur post defender there is NO need to look at him. feel out his balance with your back, nudge him offbalance with ur shoulder, and abuse him.

as for "just go" that's a common comment. let me say this...

as a post player, ur better off surveying the d before u go. ur back says where ur defender is, but u have little idea where other defenders are. the ? becomes how quickly u can survey and process the info. as bruce lee said, "be water". yao is not good at this. its as if he doesn't trust his instinct to read quickly and react through, at times, a SERIES of moves. fwiw, dream was the best I have EVER seen at this and it took him a while to trust it. and it took him believing that no double or triple team could stop him. and he was right. there is ALWAYS a keyhole from any defense. its all a matter of knowing where it is and playing the chess match to get in the right position to take advantage of it. oh, and it also takes gr8 footwork, of which yao has not displayed enough of.

The comment about Tiger Wood served fried chicken for dinner a few years back had caused a big uproar. Why? Is that racism to you? Based on what you are arguing for, I guess you must think that the African American were too sensitive, very insecure about themselves and they made something out of nothing right? You came across as a typical hypocrite to me.

Dang, HP's thread got derailed. :(

The coaches need to hammer this into Yao's head:
MAKE A MOVE IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU GET THE BALL.

Big is relative. You said black people don't have prominent noses or lips. Well, yeah, compared to black people they obviously don't. But that's a tautology, so I assumed you were comparing them to some other race. You left it unspecified, so I figured you were comparing the minority (blacks and Asians) to the majority (whites). Perhaps you were referring to some other race? Why don't you clarify it for me.

Getting upset is perfectly understandable, in that situation and this one. It was the nature of the response, completely over the top, vitriolic, and disrespectful not only to Asian Sensation but the rules of this forum, that I thought was unwarranted.

I said that Asian Sensation's post was in poor taste. Same thing as that golfer's remarks. But that's no justification for the language that poster used. If Asian Sensation was being truly hateful, maybe. But that wasn't the case, and you know it.

And CHI, I understand what you're saying. The -_- caricature is a stereotype, and you sympathize with those who are offended by it. So do I. What I do not sympathize with was the nature of that poster's response. That is all. If he said "Asian Sensation -- that's not cool. Delete that post or apologize" then I wouldn't have said anything. He went way, way, way beyond that. I personally felt that response sounded more hateful and racist than anything in Asian Sensation's post, but I knew he was just venting so all I said was "lighten up". In retrospect, "relax" or "calm down" would have been a more appropriate word choice.

If I said all Asians are good in math, or all Asians can't grow a mustache until they are 26, that is a stereotype.

Don't get hypocrite and stereotype confused, the former isn't as bad.

I respect you more (whether you care or not) after I read this post. If you had been this conciliatory at the beginning, I don't believe guys would be that upset. Your problem is that you attempted to make a point that squinty eyes is not racist (which anyone with basic knowledge of history knows it is). I guess that's what made them upset. Peace.

one would think you would be more chagrined about making caring about the quality of this board a bad thing.

I don't "bbs cop" to inflate my ego, I can get that any day of the week by releasing HD captures of anything related to Houston sports if I so felt the need to have my ego stroked.

now...since yall have TOTALLY ruined this thread...Im closing it.

enough, really...you guys should know better.

For future information to the noobs here....racial discussions DO NOT belong in GARM...go over to the D&D for that. If you see a post that you feel is over-the-line racist, report it...dont get into a full out pissing match about it
