I don't care if someone is earning their keep on only one side of the ball. The other side affects the game too. I expect better from how everyone has played defensively.
Tracy, Alston, Barry, heck Brooks too, none of our guards have been playing good defense so far this season. That has to be recognized. Hopefully Shane's return will alleviate the situation.
The Blazer's just have better latin player's than we do. Rudy Fernandez is a stud. And that Juanes was too quick for our forwards.
Watch the Celtics...because of KG's ultra-fast rotations, they can play extremely tight defense because they know KG will cut off any driving lanes. Right now, Yao is letting everyone walk into the lane. Yes, it is not all his fault. Yes, the perimeter defense has been average at very best. But that does not excuse Yao's poor defensive rotations.
That is the key. even i have understimated the effect shane has on our defense. he cleans up so much of tmacs and alstons mess on the primeter it's not funny. then he also is allways rthe first one back on transition defense. he sets the tempo on offense. tmac might be our offensive general, but battier is our defensive floor general. Also missing a great help defender and shot blocker like deke cant be underestimated. if deke was there tonight, anytime aldridge would beat scola on a move, moutombo would be there as the weakside help in notome breathing down his neck in no time. there is a reason why when yao went down last year, out interior defense actually improved. moutombo is a defensive monster even at 42.
fact is: 1. Yao's +/- was +16 which is the highest on both team. 2. Adelman's Bball knowledge beats every single one of you. There are reasons that Yao's on the court for that long. 3. 5 games into the season and some of you guys already **** your pants?! sit back and relax
Yao has had to guard two people. The guard who got a step on his teammate and his man. You think McGrady's and Rafer's lack of lateral quickness and lazy-ness doesn't put their teammates in a precarious situation? Who do Rafer and McGrady guard once their beat? They've been having it easy ... no one. Nobody was excusing Yao's poor play because he has had two very bad games... just making sure that we don't ignore the part of the defense that has fallen more consistently this early in the season.
im sick of both yao lovers and yao haters. there's like 5-10 threads a day. stick with one, it's annoying.
stats means nothin. at least KG is not big liability on def. how many points we lost becuz of yao's slow movement? wut about yao's buttfinger? and stats dont show how many times yao got blocked per game?
Um, Yao and KG have similar rebounding rates, with KG having the slight edge. Yao is still averaging 9.4 rebounds per game despite the last two terrible games. Granted that's not optimal, but how is Yao NOT REBOUNDING?
Yao's rankings in all centers and league: FG%: 34 146 Rebounding rate: 26 51 The stats show that Yao has not been rebounding well or shooting well till now
