I watched the first 2 minutes of the first quarter and WOW, the chinese team really impressed me. Good defence, nice offence, Yi looked good getting the offensive R, etc. I know it's Serbia (BTW they are not bad) but I'm really looking forward the chinese team in the Olympics. BTW I saw a chinese guy in the Knicks summer league, that number 55.
It's unfair that yao was playing on court while tmac is fishing by river. It's no wonder that yao had fallen down again and again because of various injuries. When other rosters are enjoying their vacation, yao has to lead his team to tough matches which may harm yao to some degree, both physically and mentally.Yao's teammates in the national team had frustrated him time after time, and they will be likely to disappoint him again in the olimpics held in their homecountry. No matter how much yao will contribute to his team, their failure is definite.China's basketball team will not be gonna win the gold even though they are hosts.I hope yao will get through their failure ,retain his ambition for the next season.I 'm confident that morey will make some "minor" trades to boost our team before the season starts. I expect yao's back.
Hey, when did I ever use that quote? Seriously, Yao needs to do this because it means so much to him. And you can't convince me Rox mgmt./med-staff etc. didn't encourage him to go kick Olympic butt? He could get some interesting "home" calls though. Now is not the time for him to rest. I'm proud the Rox organization might possibly see the potential benefits of this kind of pressure and get something off his mind that was on it before we won the lottery to draft him.
I think somehow I can help. First, the Chinese version:--汗水?低潮?失败?无所谓,这是我为胜利的准备! In English: Sweating? Having a bad game? Losing sometime? No big deal. That's just what I did to WIN! I CAN PLAY!
That's why an injury and the rehab period so furstrating to a player. It even takes away the skills you're once proud of for the time being. And, that's why Yao should play a few more games before he can get back to the normal shape. "got owned and outrun by WangZhuZhu" Sorry, I don't get you. As far as I know, they're atucally teammates.
yao looks in pretty good shape, or maybe its the tight fitting style of jersey the CNT is wearing from the highlights he looks like he is moving up and down the court well, but seems to bending over (his back) too much on his post moves and catches, rather than lowering himself by bending his knees, he certainly didn't seem as explosive on offense and almost in slow-motion, although he seemed to be drawing fouls rather easily (and very soft one's that don't get called in NBA on the post entry).... and has he forgotten how to dunk!
I might think he is becoming a bit injury prone and dislike the direction of his career....but he has one of greatest hearts in professional basketball. Even if he didn't have to, he would still play for his country, because that is what he believes....you can really admire the guy.
Come on, give the big guy a break! He's playing his first game in almost 5 months. What else do you expect? He'll be 80% of his oldself in 5 games, and 90% by The time of Olympics. After a month of rest, he'll be very good beginning the training camp and preseason.
This Serbia team is not bad at all. Actually, they are the champion of FIBA U19 World Championship last year, they beat USA in the final. That USA U19 team included players like Michael Beasley, Donte Greene, Deandre Jordan, etc. There're two Chinese in this year's SL, one in Lakers, one in Knicks.
Buddy there, we Chinese people never wish that our national basketball team will win the gold in this summer, we just want them to try their best to show the world that which levels they are currently at.I'm sure that Yao won't disappoint if we don't get the gold. Our dream is just a medal.
Don't get your meaning? The FIBA Stankovic Continental Cup tournament has a rest day today (July 18), and the organizers had organized tour trip for all the participating team to tour the beautiful West Lake ( XiHu 西湖 ) and other scenaric places of Hangzhou. In view of the urgency of helping Yao Ming to enhance his form and conditions, as well as gelling with the team, the China national team had cancelled joining the 3 other visiting teams in the touring trip. They insteads went into their closed door training for strategic walk-throughs and team scrimmages. The tournament resumes tomorrow, with China versus Angola in the afternoon, and Russia versus Serbia at night. As Angola is relatively stronger than Russia and Serbia who had opted to send their U20 national teams there for the tournament, and the fact that Angola is one of the countries grouped into the same group as China during the Olympics (and one of 2 to 3 teams they have to beat in order to have any hope for advancing further out of the preliminary), expect Yao Ming will play about 15 to 20 minutes tomorrow.
Not much more info, but... http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/ne...LYF?slug=txolympicschinayao&prov=st&type=lgns Yao stars in return Jul 17, 2:51 pm EDT HANGZHOU, CHINA (TICKER) —Yao Ming returned to the basketball court on Thursday night after five months on the sidelines following foot surgery, scoring 11 points as China beat Serbia, 96-72, at the Stankovic Cup. The Houston Rockets center came off the bench with four minutes remaining in the first quarter, scoring his first point on a free throw after missing a jump shot. The 7-6 Yao threw the towel in shortly before halftime, finishing with 11 points and four rebounds in 12 minutes. “Everybody saw his efficiency today,” China coach Jonas Kazlauskas said. “He scored 11 points in only 12 minutes … and I think it’s needless to comment on his performance.” Yao underwent surgery on his left foot in March after suffering a stress fracture while playing for the Houston Rockets in the NBA - an injury that kept him off the court for 143 days. Chinese basketball fans are pinning their hopes on the giant center to steer their country to the quarterfinals at the Beijing Olympics. The Rockets star, however, was tight-lipped after the game. “The basketball association doesn’t allow us to say anything,” Yao told reporters surrounding him after the game. “I am sorry for that. Bye.” “Yao hasn’t found his best form yet,” said forward Wang Zhizhi, who played for the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat between 2000 and 2005. “He will get better and better.” Yi Jianlian, the only other Chinese international in the NBA, scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds. Yi was recently traded to the New Jersey Nets from the Milwaukee Bucks. The victory was the 11th win in a row in warmup games for China, who meet Angola on Saturday and Russia on Sunday in their remaining Stankovic Cup games. ********************************************************** I'm surprised the CBA doesn't want Yao talking. You'd think that they would want any quote from him in the press leading up to the Olympics.
