Are you serious? Nowitzki is way fast than Cato can image. Even Walker can easily get by Cato. There is no way for the Rockets to play man 2 man against the Mavs. No team in the league can. The key is to make sure NO SECOND CHANCE for them. Our 3 & 4 have to do a better job of blocking out their men. Giving the way the Mavs shoot from the long range, there will be a lot of boards to pretect.

We lost all four games last year by an avg of almost 20 pts. We would have to play lights out to pull out a victory. Dallas has too many weapons. If we played man, their front court would run circles and drop bombs on us. Yao guarding the three line would be an absolute waste. You're likely to see both Yao and Cato rack up the fouls playing this way. And no one wants an Amechi appearance. We should play zone and hope for the Dallas perimeter game to fail. Our back court match up may be a wash, but our front court just don't match up well. Dirk-Toine-Twan vs Yao-Cato-JJ. I'm hoping for the best.

Well, Yao's English is better than I thought. But what Yao complained about cc.net - posters want him to shoot, bash his teammates etc. - is exactly the tone of many fans on his own BBS.

After all, he's playing ball in the states, and realistically, he has a huge number of fans in this country, why deprive himself of his fans? OUr options at the 4 for people to guard Nowitski are Cato, Braggs, Padgett and Alton Ford. Cato has the most shot of actually stayign with him - Cato is amazingly athletic, his head just usually gets in the way. I still say man-to-man is the way to go. Playing zone just leaves too many wide open shots when the offense passes the ball well, as the Mavs do, and if the team shoots well, as the Mavs can, you will get seriously burned. Man-to-man you have a shot if you can (1) stop dribble penetration by Nash and (2) make Nowitski work for his points - don't go for pump fakes or give him open shots.
actually i wouldnt mind going small ball against em. With JJax gaurding Dirk. And the rest worked into a zone... Rudy's small ball has worked before, and now we have better options so lets try it again (ofcourse their team is also Reloaded)
I feel YAO is my friend more than he is a NBA supper star. YAO often talk with us on his bbs ,I don't other NBA players can do this.
