I heard that the Rockets higher-ups and Coaches (even back with Rudy T) strongly advised the players to never read fan sites, specifically Clutch City. It kind of makes sense. It can be a bit of a distraction, especially if you're in a slump, and people are bashing you. It's a common PR move used by lots of teams and players. The only way they can interact with fans freely is through their own official website, or through a major site like ESPN or NBA.com.
Correction: Players are strongly advised not to read through Fan websites like Clutch City during the regular season and post-season.
Another translation version posted by olliez: ==== Yao's coments about Thursday's game agaist Marvs: After reading your guys' posts, I have one thing to say: the opening of this game is very important. In a basketball game both sides would like to play it within their own rhythm. This is why sometimes we say today we follow the opponents, this is the upper hand of the game. Cows/Mavs have a faster rhythm than us, they like playing pick n' roll (?) and fast break offence(?). In a nutshell, they attack before you establish the position. We will counter their half-court game with our determined defense and rotary defense (?); also try to improve our FG%, this will leave them without much counter-offence. Last thing is rebounds. I am off to bed now. Tomorrow we head to Dallas, I will catch you guys in a few days. ==== Original post: http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68117
This just shows what kind of person Yao is. He interacts with people online about BB the way he probably does with video games. A really nice guy. I wonder what the other players on the team would sound like online. E. Griffen: Yup. Yeah. That's about right. Sure. Moochie Norris: WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! HAAAAAAAAAA!
Can one of you guys give this message to Yao for me? Thanks. "Stay away from strip clubs, Yao! We love you for your innocence!"
ESPN's message board is POISONOUS for players. Read those posts, and you become just like TMac is now.
Remember that the Mavs have NO D. Defense is the weakest facet of the team. You have to attack your enemy through their weakest point. The average defense intensity that the Rockets have shown this season is enough to shut down or at least easy the Mavs' offense. The decisive factor for the game is how much we can take advantage of their weak defense. Not the run'n gun but just beat them in half court offense.
Actually, players in every sport are encouraged not to listen to talk radio or pay attention to any media.
But can he write in English well enough? Writing is much harder than reading/speaking/hearing. I'm friends with several Chinese students at my college. They can speak and read English quite well, but has a very hard time writing, because writing is much more formal, to-the-point, and leaves no room for error that speaking allows.
Please. The kid has enough problems. At least spell his name right. It's Griffin with two "i"s and no "e."
It's more like francis slash-in to the paint, and let them work harder, besides our offense was just simply great.
maybe we can ask yao to have amaechi be his representative on clutch city, i dunno, maybe he can do play by play in the chat room during games since he wont be needing to get off the bench.

Dallas is a good shooting team. Unless you have a really fast, efficient zone, it won't work. They'll just hit the open spots. Better to play man, with Yao guarding the post player with the worst outside game. Of course, this will be tough if you see a lineup of Nash, Finley, Jamison, Walker, Nowitzki....but the key there is you absolutely have to take advantage of Yao on the other end to win that battle. Yao should be getting relatively wide open 5 footers, whereas the Mavs may have Walker or Jamison open on the perimeter - DO NOT leave Nowitzki, Finley or Nash open - so if they play smart, they will win that battle. The other reason why the Rockets should fare better this year is because they have seriously cut down on the dribble penetration. Are Francis and Mobley just that much better? Maybe a little, but Van Gundy has the team rotating really right when the penetration starts, with Yao usually coming into the lane and the offensive player pulling out a lot more frequently than last year. Another key will be Kelvin Cato not getting in foul trouble. He's athletic enough to stay with a Nowitzki or Walker on the perimeter if he doesn't go for pump fakes or commit stupid fouls.
When you're not into post-game partying at the clubs with the other guys, you've got to pass the time somehow. Props to Yao. I'm a weak-willed man -- I'd no doubt be out looking for some 'tang myself.
Definitely Zone- On offense, dump it deep into YAO, Fortson fat butt will be in trouble...hopefully they dont put Yao's White Bro Bradley, who will give Yao a headache since he will be at eye level, the key in this battle will be the BENCH. hopefully padgett, boki will have hothand 3s. I hope YAO can bully his way in the paint. It'll be a battle, I just hope we dont get blown out like last year.
