Now that's one kewl pic. The Rockets ought to make a billboard out of that one. I bet he can play some mean licks on lead guitar.
Hey dc, do you know if Yao has been working the upper body so he won't get blocked by 2 guards? Or is he still continuing to work on the tree trunk legs?
Actually his jumper% increased instead of being so "off" as you said. 82games.com: Yao's jumper 03-04 .415 ; 04-05 .428 http://www.82games.com/03HOU17A.HTM http://www.82games.com/04HOU22A.HTM This is an out-of-date photo which was taken before Athens Olympics. I think Yao is stronger now.
Well I'm sure those percentages are taking into account his fadeaway jumper from the post. I'll tell you right now, that Yao did not take 43% of his shots last year on jumpers unless they are including the 6-8 footers. I'm talking about face up jumpers from 15 ft and out. It's pretty obvious from watching Yao throughout the season, that he was not shooting perimeter jumpers with much confidence or accuracy. He had shooting streaks where he shot lights out on his fadeaway so that accounts for his increase in overall jumper percentage.
Notice the cut on Yao's arm. Everyone thought that it would be a scar that would not go away. It's gone now.
Well, it's kinda hard to get a rhythm when you take only 12 shots a game. He's also pretty tired chasing guys out to the perimeter on defense while setting up screens on the offense. Add to the fact, he's not super-athletic, his jumper% is lower than what it should be. I think with more shots, better conditioning, and a gameplan that plays to Yao's strength, he can shoot over 50% from 15-17 feet out. And that, my friends, is better than most guards. Centers won't play that far out and guards won't disturb Yao's shot. Point is, I would like to see 15-30% of Yao's shot from the outside. It'll open up his inside game and make him a much more effective scorer and saves his energy from battling inside the paint, only to have the guards ignore him. The only problem is, we need an inside presence (PF) to get rebounds. With a powerful PF, I can see this team become better than San Antonio...well...maybe we need a better PG too.
