Yao didn't play well tonite and got annihilated on defense by Boozer. But saying he is playing like 05' Yao is going a bit far in my opinion. 05 Yao still had 8 and 10 pt games quite often in case you guys forgot.
This is a moronic thread. The OP's posting rights should be revoked. That being said, Yao needs to gather himself and dunk it more when he's near the rim in traffic.
THIS IS NOT A Y AO HATING THREAD. I AM NOT A YAO HATER. I'm so happy we won. But I just want him to show some of that MVP-esque dominance he gave us this season. I think we will get it in Utah, along with T-Mac. For the record, I was trying to get an "MVP" chant going with Yao at the free throw line tonight. I love yao!!
When Yao was shooting those 2 free throws at the end of the game, I totally expected him to take off and dunk from the free throw line. He needs to dunk those!! Stop being a wuss and relying on your 80% marksmanship, Yao. I want 100% in those late game situations. And dont give me that crap about how difficult it is to dunk from free throw line. Jordan did it. Drexler did it. You are a foot taller than either of those, so no excuses please. You are 7-6 for crying out loud! You shouldnt even need to jump to be able to dunk from there. Its not like I am asking you to dunk from the 3 point line. We are talking about reasonable expectations here. Ryan Bowen would never settle for jump shooting free throws.
A weak thread, Yao is playing well, the only thing I see wrong is the hesitation when he gets the ball. He is holding too long, instead of just getting it and shooting.
Yao needs to play better, defensively and offensively. Utah is still targeting him on PNR and his defense has been a liability. He also needs to be more aggressive on offense. He's settling for too many turnaround jumpshots. He needs to take it to the hole. He can not let someone like Okur guard him one on one. The November-December Yao would have destroyed Okur tonight. We might squeeze by Utah with Yao playing like this, but to get further into the playoffs we need the MVP level Yao Ming back.
I sort of agree that Yao was playing passively but that has to do with him getting into foul trouble in the first half. The refs called two wrongly called fouls on him in the 1st Q, the first one I wasn't even sure he touched CB. Anyways, after that he had to play while avoiding fouls. that means can't drive into the bucket b/c he didn't want to get called for offensive fouls or challenge Boozer on his shots. To me Yao should just play aggressively all game no matter what. He runs out of gas and becomes a liability in the 4th anyways....might as play hard for 3Q and sit for most of the 4th when Tmac can just take over........ BTW, I can't believe Jazz fans can claim that officiating was on our side.....uh yeah two people going for the ball, neither one sees the other and they collide...uhhhh foul on the Rockets????? say what?????? people running into Yao and get baled out with calls....say what????? Derek Fisher and Garichek hand checking and body bumping the entire game???? how many fouls were called???? BTW Yao and Tmac are not allstars they are Superstars.....so I say ****
Here I thought the b****ing and complaining would go away when we're winning games in the playoffs. But some of y'all had me fooled.
Did you watch the game you idiot???? Couldn't have. 27, 9 & 0 turns on anight when he was in foul trouble in the first half. Certainly not one of his all time great performances, but still very solid. I just wish I could rate this thread lower than a 1 for stupidity.
STUPID THREAD yes, Yao could've palyed better, so as Tracy, and all others, and Utah, saying this is totally bullsh$t, after a win.
I love how you all get pissed at me for pointing out our issues after a win, but JVG does this all the time and you're fine with it. You ahve to be aware of the faults going into Utah. all we've done is do what we were supposed to do. now we have to steal one at utah.
Sigh. Firstly, you did not have to create a whole new thread for a rant like this. Secondly, Yao now is better than Yao in 05. Thirdly, Yao got his points and 0 turnovers. Fourthly, the defense was extremely physical. He was getting pushed and abused (without calls) out of position in the paint. Very difficult to dunk if you are not in position. Fifthly, Yao had to both defend and attack. Of course he would be gassed and his efficiency will fall. Sixthly, would you rather have Mehmet Okur on the team or Yao? Nuff said.
Not that I endorse this thread, but I do want him getting his shooting touch back from 2005 playoffs when he was shooting at almost 70%.
JVG will never say his player to go back to 2005. That will be a stupid comment. This thread is still stupid.
Sorry, I also have to add this. Yao could have played like Tim Duncan and Dirk Nowitzki. You know how their games panned out.
