According to Slam, Yao wears size 18 shoes. Those are pretty big, but small for a 7-5 player. I have a picture of his shoes. I want to post them. Can somebody host the photo for me?

I think that Shaq's shoes are size 22.

How is it possible that Shaquille O'neal, who is five inches shorter than Yao Ming, wear a bigger shoe than Ming?

Yes, they are small for a 7'5" player. Hakeem had 18" shoes too
    (and Hakeem was 6'10").

But, actually, I like the fact that Yao has "small" feet for his size.

It's gives him quicker feet in the post. If he had big feet like Shaq
(or bigger 24" size), he'd be lumbering around like Zydrunas Ilgauskas,
or Hakeem in his later days (Herman Munster cement-block feet).

That's why you aren't a scout, trainer or coach. You would belittle and
    dismiss everything.

What? Do you think that basketball is just a sport where guys run
around like chickens with their heads cut off and then somehow come
away with a win?   And then the Rockets are somehow
supposed to just serve it to you on a silver platter? No! It takes hard work
preparation and planning. It requires more than just braun, but a brain too.

    Here's you...

"Free throw technique, what's what?!!! You just throw the ball towards the
basket. What's the big frikin deal?!!!....Now someone pass me a beer!!! WWF
    is about to come on!!!"

Sorry for off-topic a little bit. I think Yao's shooting slup has something to do with more weight training.

    How?

    Fatigue?

Or, somehow getting stronger makes you forget how to shot?

David, let me say this. I understand that when Kevin Willis has short arms it limits his ability to defend and artifiicially makes him play shorter. I don't understand what having small feet for a big man does. The hypothesis that Shaq's toe is hurt because his feet are big is false. The idea that Yao can have better foot work and will avoid injuries because of this is false. Realisticly, being 300 lbs with a smaller foot structure would put more weight on smaller bones and increase the potential for stress fractures. (Let's hope this doesn't happen) I mearly took a sarcastic quib at a thread that I thought was pointless. Obvioulsy others don't feel the sameway because the thread is getting play, but I do have an opinion and you know how the saying goes. It was meant to be more humorous than anything else. Me lo siento. Mi corazon es en partes porque to no es mi amor.

True. The taller you are, the better it is if you have bigger feet
    (stability factor).

BUT, this can be a problem if you don't have the leg strength to
accompany the extra weight (in the feet and upper body).

Now, you might think that feet don't have that much weight, but
when you have to run up and down the court 100 times and you
are 290+ lbs, plus you were 18+ size, shoe, that's talking a lot
of weight and movement for such large body parts. They become like
cement blocks! Shaq has a balanced body structure. His legs are
the right size for his feet, and his upper body is the right size for his legs.

    He's balanced.

I've said this before. But it's not how BIG you are. It's not how STRONG
you are. It's how strong you are in relation to your weight.

Right now, Yao is very light (relatively) in his upper body in relation to
his leg strength and feet size. So, he's safe. FOR NOW! But if he starts
to get too big up-top, it will put more pressure on his feet and
    make him less mobile.

If Yao wore 22inch shoes, he wouldn't be able to drive baseline like he does.
The trade off is that he's not as stable in the post as Shaq or Hakeem.

But he has more mobility because he wears 18, and his legs are HUGE.
He's able to MOVE those feet fast! Thus, driving (guard-like) ability.
