true, but blinebury does think highly of yao whenever he writes about him so i doubt he wants to make yao look bad. but putting the word "jokingly" in there would have been better. but yao shouldn't have mentioned that at all. worrying about chemistry was a legit concern by yao. leaving the detroit fan incident would have been perfect.
If the chronicle would just get with the times and use smileys, all of this drama could've been avoided.[rquoter]... "There's worry. Obviously, yes," said Yao. "We will think about it, of course. Hopefully, he's not fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands. *wink wink* lol" ...[/rquoter]See? Now that's not so bad.
You're absolutely right and I thought about that as I was creating this thread. I am trusting the fact that Yao was joking. He deserves the benefit of the doubt given his history of good judgment.
Agreed. Yao should have left the comment out but since he said it Fran should've been more clear about the context of the comment.

I posted about this in the other thread yesterday saying Yao was probably joking around. Fran needs to get fired or something, I have never liked anything he wrote.
I can't stand Blinebury. He's smart but he's too damn bitter about everything. He may not have always been like that but he certainly has been for the past several years. He needs to find a new job. I like Feigen a little more but he's basically an airhead. He says all the right things and rarely adds anything insightful to his pieces. At least he's not an a-hole like his counterpart.
I think it's more trying to stir up controversy than to badmouth Yao. He's trying to create friction when there isn't any to begin with. True. But in general Yao does not have a track record of badmouthing people. So this is more an exception that is probably due to his lack of knowledge about Artest and all the bad pub surrounding him. But even if Yao's at fault, it's still incredibly irresponsible to exaggerate that further as a reporter. Yao may have a slip of the tongue, but Fran had a lot more time to think his words over.
doesn't matter if yao was joking or not, it was tasteless and very unyao like to mention that. im happy he might be starting to speak his mind more openly, but when it comes to the team, teammates etc...that needs to be kept in the locker room behind closed doors.
Just imagine the receiving end of the joke is an Asian and then he complained about the joke, I can guarantee your stance will take a 100% U-turn and you will accuse him of being overly-sensitive. You are really lovely and cute.
if Yao was joking he needs to be more media savvy. frankly, i think its good for a team leader to poke at Ron's intentions.
This 'news' is damage control, and i hope it works. there's no telling what a crazy artest may do midseason
