I hope not this is how he always wears down and gets injured when he comes and plays for us

Smart idea. I am all for it. Go Yao but don't go all out yet.

What happens if Yao Ming plays for the Rockets in the Playoffs? The Doctors
won't be able to prevent him from playing in the following Summer! :p

If he doesn't care about his NBA career, I care not for his other desires.

And if he plays, I wash my hands of him and wish him well.

(I am sooooo over injuries and the drama that goes with it)

This has him playing right around training camp right? I think it could actually be benificial, he was expected to be about ready at the end of this season, probably still to be held out, so that gives him 4-5 months to get in shape, whatever it is he needs to do to get ready for the season, he plays in the 2 week championship and rests for a two months before preseason. This way he is already back in the groove of basketball, he gets to see where he is physically at and hopefully come back strong for the season.

We need to trade his ass if he's going to try and play year round again...yeah it's cool that he's loyal and proud...but this is moving into the idiotic realm.

    inb4tyaobash.... oh wait, too late

not happy with yao's decision, but it's yao's choice and not ours to make...and, like all the conspiracy theorists said, it's possibly just a PR move.

Imagine the backlash in the Chinese media if Yao had said the opposite of what he actually said.

As much as fans here like and support Yao Ming, as this stage of his career, 29 years old and really injury proned, he has to choose to either player for his national team or the Rockets. To do otherwise would be to shortchange the Rockets who after all pay his enormous salary.

I don't care much about whether he plays or not with his national team.

But my real question is, if he do returns to the Rockets, how would he fit in? We would have to slow everything down just for Yao. We wouldn't be a fast pace team no more with Yao injected into the lineup.

I honestly don't believe we would be a contender or even a tad bit better than this year's team with Yao. I think its time to move forward. Yao would make a good role player for this team, not the main player.

I'm at the point where I don't give a crap about what Yao's got going elsewhere or how another country would react.

    screw all that wasted crap.

I want a ******* basketball player, not a freaking worldly player who can't decide on his loyalties.

I'm tired of the manu and yao of the world. As far as I'm concern, they ought to have a rule that says if you can't give 100% to the NBA, DO NOT EXPECT EQUAL PAY.

Sorry, I'm pissed right now. I've been very patient with Yao and Tracy and I'm now tired of making excuse for them. I have reached my limit.

    I'll be better tomorrow...I swear.

If he said he didn't want to play, he would be crucified to death my the Chinese bureaucrats.

This is incredibly frustrating...Yao gets the most free passes from the fans out of any player.

He can't play an entire season for the team that pays his damn salary...the one that is castrated financially when he is out...but he has to play for a team during the summer that doesn't do anything anyways?

Ridiculous, go ahead and flame me YOF or w.e, but I could care less about what Yao does if it doesn't pertain to the rockets.

I'm proud of Yao for wanting to represent his country, but come on. Even if he does play, they won't get very far with the squad they have.

As many have said, if he says he doesn't want to play, he'll be attacked for his decision.

I just hope that, regardless of his choices, he can come back healthy and lead us to a championship before its too late.

Not our damn problem, the 15 or 16 so mil we pay him other wise to sit on the bench in a suit won't pass by without objection. Tmac and Yao have done their best to suffocate this organization in terms of financial flexibility.

Look at it this way, is it fair to chuck/Shane/landry etc.. that they haveto play their buts of during the reg season while Yao wears himself down somewhere else? Our role players deserve better than what our "stars" bring to the table.

    what's the big deal?

    first, that's his choice.

and, he'd be out of the game for over a year by then. a tournament which consists of less than 10 international games is not gonna make or break it.

this year-around bball thing is overstated. plus, if he plays this time, it won't even be a year-around thing.
