I truly believe that Yao needs to get ejected from a game because that would bring a lot of media attention on the subject. Ejection + fine = articles on SI, Yahoo, ESPN, USA Today, etc on the subject. Then hopefully, the NBA can do something about it. Like have stated previously, the Spurs game had bad calls, but it went both ways so thats not that bad. The Suns game, however, was just stupid. How are they going to call a foul when Rafer or Batter is JUST SWAPPING at the ball and not even laying a hand on Nash, but will allow Amare/Diaw to push/grab/hug and tug on Yao's jersey? Makes no sense!
I said this in another thread Hayes is a scrub the guy is horrible offensively, he's a 6'6 undersized powerforward, Chuck Hayes is a 10 minute guy and thats it. Yao has every right to be frustrated and I'm not sure why he hasn't worked out Hayes is part of the problem, Even with Tmac Hayes does not provide enough of a threat to warrant being a starter hence why every powerforward sags off of him to help out with defense. With Scola having a good last couple of games. Rafer is also part of this problem guards also sag off of him because they know he can't shoot at all, so who ever guards rafer wanders off and trys to pick the ball off of Yao. Then if thats not successful Yao passes to rafer and rafer will brick it. The rockets need 5 guys on the floor who can hit there shots to punnish any double team on tmac or yao. I would like to see a starting line up of Yao, Scola, Battier, Tmac and at pg either James or Aaron Brooks. Why Brooks when he is a rookie with little credentials, The boy can shoot from the 3 with ease he has tremendous speed and penetrating abilities, if he can control himself he can do the things needed by a pg If brooks doesnt start, I'd love to see a small ball lineup of Scola,Battier,Wells,Tmac and Brooks I'd like to see Francis come off the bench when Tmac is out so that the rockets have penetration still and wells to provide other offensive relief. I'd like to see Hayes and Mutumbo get 10 minutes each to relieve Scola and Yao. But I would rather see the rockets make a trade for a PF using rafer As I also said in the phoenix thread, Yao needs to develope a mean streak or he will continue getting abused because he just lets it happen, he needs to foul hard play hard to pretty much say if you come near me you might get hurt. I dunno bout any of you but I only really watch rockets games and I do notice bad calls on Yao, But maybe people who only watch other teams see lots of bad fouls on there favorite players to. But I think also if the rockets truely feel that Yao is not getting calls and being unfairly treated by the refs, they need to do a thorough investigation into this with a well thought and well documented presentation to the NBA pretty much citing and proving all of the really bad calls made on Yao. I think if the rockets do that and also make there investigation public things may improove
Geeeeeeez.....100 replies even before the full translated article come out !! So here you go. Let's judge whether Yao Ming is trying to shift the blame onto the referees, his team mates and coach and others for his poor performance recently. ENJOY !!!
I have given up to respond to this doublehh03 too. Every time when he talks about Tmac(80% of his posts) or Yao(15% of his posts), I can almost tell what he is going to say. For the ones who keep calling out the YOFs, either you start bashing this doublehh03 aka TOF too or you are just a hypocrite.
Seriously, I think this whole YOF and TOF and etc are getting ridicolous and out-of-control. Clutch should close registration and start booting people who are not interested in the Rockets, but rather individual players. My favorite player of ALL TIME is "the Dream," but you don't see me going around acting as a DOF or Drexler-OF or a Cassell-OF or a MadMaxOF. What is going on with people today? This is a Rockets site, not a T-Mac fan site or a Yao fan site or a Francis fan site! There are plenty of basketball forums where such nonsense is welcomed and other bone-heads will gladly participate in it. This site is for Rockets fans to discuss Rocket issues, not d*ckride for their favorite player. I believe one of the problems is the free registration was opened when we got Yao and T-Mac and bandwagon fans hopped on. I remember visiting this site for like 6 years because registration was not free and I would just read Clutch's recaps and the articles from other websites. So when registration was finally re-opened, I saw it as a privilege to join the site! I don't think some others on here realize that.
yeah, the play where he said gasol screamed and flew 3 meters on a flop was just like the Scola play on Amare the other day when he just jumped out of bounds even though Amare applied about as much pressure as a feather. and yes, thank you Pruyen. this is a great yao article, it makes me want to march in the streets to his name
Excellent. Long overdue. Yao has things he can work on, sure. But the foul calling on him has been ridiculously inequitable. The flops are many and increasing due to their success against him, yet he gets hacked w/ no call. IMO, this is not even debatable. I cannot fathom why the league has permitted this cr*p to continue, but it apparently will unless something changes. Yao being vocal about it WILL create pressure on the league. They won't want this to create a PR debacle and if Yao remains consistently vocal it can be a real embarassment for the league. It shines a light on the weakness of the game which is the critical nature that the refs can and do play. Refs' inadequacies can change the outcome of a competition among some of the world's best athletes and it's can be nearly unbearable for fans. And as for Yao, has there ever been another big man who didn't punish a few other players? No one hesitates to stand in front of Yao because he try's to minimize impact even when it's apparent he's going to get a charging call. When the call is inevitable, I say make them earn it. He won't get some of the space he needs and easy baskets until defenders think twice about challenging him. It doesn't mean he shouldn't remain a fleet gazelle the rest of the time, but on those occasions when contact is inevitable it's time to be a 300 pound raging bull. Then watch the spacing relax.
At least Amare touched Scola. The gasol flop I recall like that description was when Yaos arms were both up for a board and Yao had postion on gasol, then gasol suddenly lurches forward as if pushed in the lower back. They need to change the rules where a flopper (floppist? no, too close to brewers of excellent beer) get's called for a 'foul against the spirit of the game'.
Subatomic said it best in another thread. He needs to be like Dave Cowens or John Havlicek and show the refs what a real foul is. When they grab or hold Yao, Yao can swing his elbows to get them off his nuts and not called for a foul.
Your idea made me smile. Watching the league's collective jaw hit the floor as Yao walked off after this fifth ludicrous non-call would be priceless. Option "B": Have Yao make those ticky tack fouls worth it. I think this is what Shaq started to do. He could not get the calls, so he just became mean, and fouled the snot out of any little guy who came into his path. After a while of consistently doing this, the refs just let him charge all over everybody.
In one of the first games of the season (or maybe it was preseason) the ball was in Chuck's hands and a ref blew the whistle. So the play had stopped and Chuck attempted a 15-16ft jumpshot - no hitch! The shot looked pretty ok, though he missed. By the way, didn't Chuck say he has been working on his midrange shots during an interview he gave sometime during the training camp/preseason?
Great Post Batman Jones, Yao has been poorly officiated since he got in. Teams murder him. I say fight back Yao
Refs are also human; they hate to give calls to a big guy frustrated by much smaller players. Big guys should bully the smaller guys on the basketball court, not the other way around! Refs just hate to bail them out. Believe me, I watched so many NBA games, it is not only Yao but also many other bigs who play small, Refs just hate to bail them out!
Hey genius, if you're so damn smart, why don't you figure out a way for Yao to deal with such defenses and then apply to replace Adelman as coach? Or wait, maybe you can be the NBA player that gets Yao the ball even when he is fronted by such defenses. You're the next Steve Nash When you cross the line, you will get hit by oncoming traffic. If you don't want to be hit by traffic, don't cross the damn line!!!
