I think some fans may would love to hear yao talks about "being aggreesive".
Yes, but boy does he talk some trash when he's speaking Chinese. It's like... 2 different people are speaking. Boy.
Then he just needs to be taught a leson by them continuing to play together for several years till Yao gets it or Steve Francis retires. There is of course the possibility that what is being reported is Yao being Yao, a person too afraid to say boo to anything or anybody. He just doesnt want to say anything bad about anyone and doesn't want to be the cause of any trouble for another person. Which could be interpreted that Yao wont exert himself into a leading role in the team, he will have to be pushed into it or it might have to be demanded of him!
Looks like yao said he likes to play with francis, not that he would rather play with francis instead of tmac.
I either question Yao's basketball intelligence or Yao says whatever is the least controversial thing to say... Of course Yao is going to say he'd rather have Francis. That is like when Francis said he would step up and become a team leader. Saying and doing are 2 completely different things.
Q: Hey Big Yao, what's your greatest harvest and pity during this season? A: I learned a lot this season. The biggest one is: I found I could be very aggressive for some time. -- Can't be all time, but at least a period of time. The biggest pity is: Can't be aggressive for all the time. (sorry, kind of "chinese english" SHY)
I donnt think it is just diplomacy. In fact, I think it is part of chinese traditional value. Sf is a great MAN comparing with others. Thus Ym prefer to play with him. it is not about basketball skills.
Look at another question, which Yao answered with a nice sense of humor: Q:What is weakest position in the Rockets? Ahysically, our coach is weakest. Yao is at least the Prince of diplomacy if not the King...
That is too funny. I rather like the fact that he doesn't play ball with the media when they try to ask questions designed to foment discontent. When they ask him who the weakest player is, or whether he'd rather play with McGrady or Kobe instead of Stevie, all they're doing is trying to get him to say something that they can make a controversy out of. Props to Yao for not taking the bait.
