Spain as a team outplayed China badly. Congratulation to them on getting the 7th spot. It's exactly where they belong. What an accomplishment. They deserve it.

I don't think so. Put Gasol on the Chinese team and let him be covered by two or three players everytime and gets in foul trouble covering his teammates I doubt that team would've won a single game.
Yeah, even Gasol scored several one on one points on Yao, fouled him out with an And 1 play, dunked on him several times, outscored him 58pts to 26pts in two games and won the scoring champion. It doesn't matter, I agree.
Did you watch the game or just read the stat sheet? Statistically Yao is 2nd in pts and 1st in rbs, while Gasol only has pts. Also, Gasol and Yao are in totally different situations and are not comparable. On defense, Spain is a way better team and Gasol is a talented scorer. China has no PF to match him. In fact, outside of Yao, the defense of Team China is non-existent. And it's impossible for Yao to cover the whole Spain team. On offense, Yao and Duncan are the only two players seeing constant double or triple teams. They also need to run the offense. Yesterday Yao set many picks to get shooters involved and Li Nan scored 19 pts to keep China close in the game. Yao has to put the whole team on his shoulder while Gasol only need to take care of the offense. Put Yao in Spain and Gasol in China Yao would also dunk and score a lot on Gasol. Gasol's defense is weak. There's a reason Hubie didn't give him a lot of play time last year. I'd say Gino and even Scola have a better tournament than both Gasol and Yao. You've got to give the champion due respect.
