Dwight over Yao. but that's not saying yao in't any good. I think Yao was the 2nd best center in the league but is better H2H against Dwight Howard.
I can't get over this. I think Yao is probably the better player at his best and healthy....but what does that mean? He's injured all the time.
Funny how on a Rockets forum, Yao is leading by a small margin, but if we posted this on a Magic forum, Dwight would probably have a 70-30 or greater lead. Thus, Dwight > Yao
Yao is just not as athletic or mobile as Dwight.....and Dwight is injury free. Gotta go with Dwight. DD
I had a discussion fantasy thought. Do you guys think, if by some fantasy off world, could Dwight and Yao coexist in the same team? As in, could they both share the 4/5 spots during certain parts of the game if they were in the same roster? Would they work as twin towers or is that era past its heyday already? Just a fantasy thought.
There is no way in hell Dwight would "only" be leading 70-30 over Yao on a Magic forum. I am going to guess 95-5.
At this point you can't even argue this. Two times defensive player of the year + 3 1st team nba. Yao might beat him one on one, but against the rest of the league DH is better. In 2005 specifically and also 2007 you could say they had the team to at least get of the 1st round, but they didn't. Dwight's team has gotten to the finals.
On a general NBA forum, DH would have at least a 70-30 lead. On a Magic forum, it would be more like 99-1.
Stop talking about injuries and read the OP's post rather than the thread title. Lets not also forget that Yao is a way better free throw shooter than Dwight.
But the OP's post is a fantasy, what's the point of comparing a fictional character with a real live NBA player? If you assume that Yao is healthy, why don't you also assume that DH had post moves and could shoot fts at a 95% clip? Yeah, if Tmac didn't slack off and was completely healthy he'd be totally better than Jordan
Forget the player vs player matchup magic team >> Rockets team in terms of Roster. People always just look at the stats not the team surrounding the player to make his life easier, especially for a Center who relies on a really good wing player to finish games.
