Noway battman had sufficient position to warrant a foul. thats a blocking foul.

Would have really sucked if Battier got injured from that.

Plus didn't yao do this very same thing in practice recently? The man practices all facets of the game :D

Actually It would be really interesting to hear JVG's comments about Yao's performance in last two games...

Yes, he got pancaked. I think the call could have gone either way because Battier was sliding some, but Yao was so out of control it looked like a charge.

Well, I guess it is a charge after all. Even Yao admitted it himself. ;) :D

So what we are seeing is that there are two type of people...

Those who want to win every time they step on the court, NO MATTER WHAT. We know that list includs Van Gundy and Battier.

And those who don't try to win every time. That list ncludes about half of the posters at this site.

If Yao had dunked it maybe they would have called it a blocking foul. ;)

It was a very close play. But, Yao was not out of control. He had his head up and knew where Battier was setting up. And he went to Battier's right. Battier used his quickness to slide over.....and under Yao. That's why I would give Yao the benefit of the doubt. Kinda like tie goes to the runner. Battier may have been there but he got there by moving and he got there simultaneously with Yao. The only thing Yao missed on was he should have just jump stepped straight up and threw it down. He's got to know that a defender like Shane isn't gonna challenge him up top when he is rolling to the basket. They're gonna go for the charge every time. Just take your time big man, stop and throw it down. Good play though on both ends.

    We're gonna love Shane.

give me a break... if Shaq had done that but slammed the ball down... going over his head...

it would have been a blocking foul...

if Yao had just tried to jump over Bat... he would have gotten the call...

well atleast I hope so... 7'6 dude dribbing down the floor and you call a charge... thats just sad....

I hope it wasnt a NBA ref....

It's a charge. But I love both sides of the play.

Yao steals the ball, going coast to coast, showing skills and mobility.

Battier takes the charge of 300-pounder going full speed, showing gut and defensive instinct.

Now, all we need to see is TMac in action. :D
