i said couple weeks ago that yao is a better shooter than francis, and people don't believe me. one guy posted the FT stats for the two, showing francis was ahead of yao. but, i know yao is better just by looking at the way they are shooting.

Yao's selection of shots may be better than Francis, but in no way is Yao a better shooter than Francis.

Francis can shoot from anywhere on the floor. Yao's range is at best 15 ft from the basket.

Yao's FT % is lower than it should be right now b/c of his early season shooting. He didn't shoot nearly as well early in the season, so it's hard to get that % up. I see Yao being >85% FT shooter during his career. Great touch....I would not want any other Rocket at the line at the end of the game.

I don't have the stats for drew gooden but he may be the darkhorse to win ROM. He is having monster games for orlando.

Yao's shooting range is out to the three point line. He proved it at last summer World Championship Competition. His outside jumper were so amazingly accurate that B. Wallace, J'Oneal, Antonio Davids or whoever guards him looked silly trying to defend it. He made an unbelievable 75% of his shots( 57 for 76)at the World Competition.

I don't understand why Yao only play exclusively down in the low post ever since he becomes a Rocket. Should he mix up his other strengths to further confuse his defenders?

The man who deserves it wins it :)
Now if only the winning spirit can rub off on the team as well... ;)

I could be wrong, but I'd guess that he'd also say that rookie of the year is essentially meaningless as well. Because, like you said, it's pretty much based on how many times one wins rookie of the month.

Besides, if the Rockets don't make the playoffs, I'd almost rather Yao not win ROY, because how sad would that be, adding the rookie of the year (and essentially getting Francis for a full season - so far) and still missing the playoffs?

The only real reason I'm pulling for Yao to win the award is that I'm hoping that if he plays well enough to deserve it, he'll boost the team into the playoffs.

The good news is, there's still a pretty good chance we'll make the playoffs AND Yao will win ROY.

If I am not mistaken, Bulter won the most ROMs (3) so far while Yao had 2, Stoudemire, Williams and Gooden each had 1.

Butler does not have Stoudemire, Gooden to compete with before like Yao, but now he has Gooden though.

    -G'day-
