I was just referring to the reebok shoes that caused so much problems before the 06-07 season that's all. I'm just speculating about the quality. :)

That'd be more interesting if we knew that the "something shady" was. Without knowing, it seems like a cheap shot at Nike.

Good, shows Yao's principles. I'm sure Nike with its $$$ could have made Yao more money and given him more exposure, but Yao didn't back down when he felt he was being tricked.

I agree. We should not made judgment on Nike unless Yao came out to tell what had happened behind the scene 5 years ago. Calling Nike this and that without knowing even 1% of the details is unfair.

Yao made a terrible decision and you can bet your life he is regretting it.

The Reebok shoes are one of the reasons that Yao is injured again and missed his best chance to get something done in the playoffs.

And the money......... You just don't leave millions on the table even if you are rich. You don't see billionaires stop working just because they are rich. Explain why he only donated so little if he "doesn't care" about his money.

2 millions is little??? Are you Warren Buffet? But based on what you said, you don't sound like you are even 1/100 as intelligent as him. So who are you?

    Yao is a man.

    Yao is man of principle.

Yao is man enough not to fall for Nike's B.S.

Problem is Reebok sucks! I am not talkin about the quality of the shoes comapre to Nike(because it is debatable) nor Reebok caused Yao's recent injuries but on marketing Yao. Everytime i surf the Reebok website, all I see is Allen Iverson. Reebok almost do nothing to promote Yao and there isnt signature shoes for Yao compare Allen Iverson!

there are mainly Nike and Addidas that dominate in the chinese market
If not Yao ,Reebok will be a small percent.when Yao signed with Reebok ,everyone asked why?

Turning Nike down is a matter of principle. Signing with Reebok? why? Nobody wears Reebok in China. It's Nike and Addidas that rule. Even Converse is more popular. It's a bad business decision to sign with Reebok.

I too want to know the Nike "dishonesty" is. I mean what could they possibly do that sounds worse than the Yao needs to make so many all star teams to get an extension in the Reebok deal?

I read an article about this a few months ago...it's actually pretty interesting to me how people started running. Anways, people run heel to toe nowadays because shoes are so padded now that it's comfortable to do so. Even if it doesn't hurt, it's still bad for you and can cause shin splints.

If you try running without your shoes, you'll realize that it hurts a lot to run heel to toe and you'll naturally start running by landing on the balls of your feet (the front part) and barely even touching the ground with your heels. This is the natural way to run.

Supposedly some professional sprinters and marathon runners have regimens where they will run barefoot for a portion of their daily training.

You can google a lot of articles about proper running I'm sure, if you're more interested.

Dont you think that its kind of hard to believe Nike would try such a thing on Yao considering the fact Nike knows Yao will consult BDA sports and Team Yao on the contract specifics and with the vast experience of BDA sports in dealing with endorsement contract and the educational backgound of Team Yao , that any attempt to offer Yao a shady deal would easily be exposed ?

well when you sprint i believe you get more speed and acceleration from running on the top of your feet. not sure though im just saying from experience because when you start to run on the back of your heel, its pretty painful :X

ugh... the money Yao turned down was in the range of $100 million or so. Out of respect for Yao's own intelligence, I'd believe there was something SERIOUSLY wrong in the contract to piss him off like that.

of course, you could always decide Yao probably ain't really smart and he simply made a dumb decision. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree if that's the case :)
