This is Clanton's last month. He will be gone in August.

Correction: Ilgauskas has been healthy for the 8 seasons he's played since his surgery.

Has he played the same role, and with the same efficiency?

if you see how Z plays, he RARELY plays in the post anymore. when he does, it's basically a fallaway, not banging bodies or things like that. he basically just stays outside for the midrange J from a lebron's penetration. those things put less pressure on him physically than what yao usually does, banging in the post. and we all know yao will resume that role when he does return again b/c that's how he made a name for himself.

if he does resume the same playing style, he's going to get injured again. it's inevitable.

if yao wants to prolong his career, he has to develop a midrange J. he has to play like at least 50-50 inside/outside. adelman's system will still allow him to do well if he can develop that J.

Yao's done with the Rockets, I truly hope we move on from this terrible experiment and start a new chapter, where we've got one of the best GMs in the league, this team is going to be a lot more fun to watch now, instead of the half-court offense, Rick might be able to run the most fluid offensive system in the league with the big estrogen not in the middle anymore.

I'm really hoping this surgery will work out for Yao as it was a similar one for Z and a successful one. Good luck Yao I hope to see you come back for many seasons.

But Walton was never the same player, and Zeke was never an effect #1 player for his team. You cannot expect Yao to come back and be a All-NBA, 30-35 min, #1 or #1B option for a championship team. You just cannot expect that. And if you are not expected that from him, you cannot pay him max money.

Because of the uncertainty behind all of this, you have to move on completely and find a new cornerstone. And if I'm proven wrong, I'll be ecstatic, but waiting and hoping likely only delays the inevitable.

Walton had a completely different approach. He was a vegetarian running on bad feet with painkillers.

Yao is lucky that the doctors didn't give him painkillers and tell him to keep going. It would have ended up the same way as Walton.

Zydrunas eats meat and got his foot restructured, and a good doctor.

If Clanton doing the surgery, trade Yao.

If Myerson is dong the surgery, we can keep going. Yao will be better with even an average team physician over Clanton. Draft John Wall and trade T-mac for another all-star or potential all-star. A new 3-headed monster and keep going.

I think it's going to go well. I mean it's not like yao's tremendous leaping ability and flash like speed is going to take a hit. I'm sure he will keep praticing his smooth Jumpshot on a wheel chair while in rehab.

    Best wishes to yao.

"I am confident that the path I have chosen is the best one," Yao said. "I know I have a lot of work ahead of me before I can be back on the court, and I am committed to do whatever I can to make my recovery 100 percent successful. I have full confidence I'll play again."

The surgery will be performed next week by Dr. Tom Clanton, one of the Rockets' team physicians. If all goes well, Yao said, he could begin rehabilitation "a couple weeks" after surgery and could return to basketball activity in six months.

that was from the article.....Yao is saying he will be able to return to basketball activity in 6 months so does that mean he will still have a chance to play next season if all goes well....how is he going to start rehabbing a few weeks after surgery...maybe the rockets still thnk there is a chance he will come back next season but do not want to say anything yet because of the injury exception they got from teh NBA and also becauwe they do not want to put too much pressure on Yao....
    just a thought....

Sad but its true. But the problem is because of your S/N no 1 is going to believe you with what you say about Yao. That is the sad thing about this board.

My thing is if McGrady is so called Done as a Rocket Yao should be done also because it is annoying because of the same damn injury over and over and over again. Rockets need to move on.

All this Yao vs Tmac back and forth crap needs to go. Makes this forum unreadable.

    b/c tracy's surgery is non-invasive.

this is yao's 3rd surgery, and this one is VERY invasive.
