The greedy like desire for awards are for losers. Notice how Amare and Caron seemed to be lusting for the Rookie Year Award compared to a much more disinterested attitude from Yao. Yao handle it perfectly compared to Caron and Amare who seemed to always be promoting themselves over the other canidates.

    Yep Texas Stoke.

Caron especially. God. What a loser.

Yao handled it nicely. "Congrats Amare...good rivalry in the future"

    He's so good!!!!!! :)

Well he should have won Rookie of the Year...

Texas Stoke, while I do remember Caron Butler pimping himself late in the season for the ROY, I never remember Amare mentioning anything other than how the award should be given to the player whose team made the playoffs. I though Amare was always very complimentary towards Yao. I could be wrong though...

    Playoff berth may hold key...

Rane, thanks for that quote. I was wrong, that was pretty cool of Amare to say.

I guess Amare is a nice boy. :)

BUT WHAT THE HECK. All these so called sports writers...well they are sports writers but whatever...ANYWAYS. They all say....when Yao has a bad game, it is really bad. Or he has dog games. WHAT ABOUT AMARE?!?!?!? He had a bunch of bad games...and when he had a "dog" game...they kept him in during garbage time and he just abused 4th string bench players.

I'm not surprise at all that Yao won Sportsnews ROY.

I'm SHOCK that Yao lost ROY to Amare. It turns out Yao's hype and fame hurt him in ROY race more than we can imagine. However, strictly on a technical scouting point of view, Yao wins ROY straight up. That's why personnel GMs voted Yao. Yao's got more potential and skills than Amare or Butler.

Butler is a sore loser that complaining whoever gets more points per game should win even though his team is at the really bottom. Amare did not have any self-confidence at all, he was saying something like " I think I should win ROY, I don't see what's so special about Yao Ming", later he changed his tone, "whoever gets playoff wins ROY, it's fair". We all know at the time Suns are pretty much getting the 8th spot.

The NBA Official ROY award is a freaking joke. Well, Yaowon the world's newcomer award in world sports' "Oscar" The laureous award. That means so much more to get the world's recognition rather than some so called expert media people.

While the NBA ROY award holds more prestige... The Sporting News ROY award holds more merit. Afterall it's notbased on a bunch of dumb reporters who might think JVG is better than Rudy just because Rudy doesnn't give a good interview. Yao is the best rookie and every GM would take him over Amare if he could draft one or the other player today. So that truly shows who they believe is the best. But I will say picking Amare is not a bad second choice.

Sportingnews is hard to respect considering their number 1 NBA sports online sports writer is Sean Deveney. I cann't stand the guys articles, always talking about Kobe this and Laker that. Can we get anymore bias? Having sent this guy some email his replies are less then flattering. And for those who might be wondering, Sean did not vote for Yao for Rookie of the year, he specifically stated that Amare was the man.

Now that the Lakers are no longer on top...I wonder if every other article is going to be about the Lakers?

you know how those f***ers do. they all blabber bout their favorite team and not give credit for the other teams. its clearly a biased world when it comes to "sport literature"! if you dont like the team, they mean nothin to you, when you love the team, you will do everything to give them praise and glory. and in my point of view, this commerical writers doesnt give much respect and appreciation for the rockets. they just a bunch of assholes who writes about their team and not THE TEAM.

and as far as amare-yao ROY goes, he's completely blinded. yao is one of the main men in the rocs squad. a few rookies have gained that position in their first year. rookies that carried the team like olajuwon, jordan, and much more. yao is one of the main cast in the rockets squad and may considered to be untouchable or has very high value, for amare, he's just another guy for your highlight reels. he is a great player, he's a great low post guy, he's all bump and hustle but he doesnt carry the team. its a marbury-marion team. he's not a role player not like yao. he and stevie must produce good numbers to win. imo, the ROY was stolen from yao just cuz the suns made it to the playoffs.

If you have any evidence to back that statement up, I would love it. Please post some links.

By the way that people talk about Yao Vs Amare, you would think that they were bitter enemies...but I havent seen any evidence of that whatsoever. Being that they are both rooks, and have to attend the same camps, I would imagine that they are closer than us fan want to admit.

Should Yao have won the "Got Milk" Roy? I'm not sure, I was in the "playoff" camp. That being said, both of them had great rookie seasons, and both will continue to shine.

Yao is a once in a lifetime player, and we dont need awards to prove this.

Last time I checked, self confidence had nothing to do with the rookie of the year award.

For that matter, last time I checked, awards didn't mean diddly. The only award that matters is the championship trophy.
