I was thinking the same thing. Rudy T played a big part in drafting and trading players. Yao is definitely one of his guys.

Cancer/illness at first then unfortunately I heard it is a personal demon addiction (drinking) but I'm not sure if it's true so I apologize if I am wrong.

There were no Oilers on the Titans.

The Oilers died when they became the Titans.

So this thread is about how Yao is the only player on our team who was part of the Rudy, JVG, and Rick eras, and who wasn't traded or waived, that has heart? Good job.

I think much of the effort, hustle, heart, humility, etc. that people display is based more on their upbringing and character than who they were coached by. Some guys need to be motivated to reach that next level, sure, but the guys who really have it, have always shown it I'm willing to bet.

It is sad in a way though to think that Yao is Rudy's last imprint on a Rocket's team hitting the floor today. The Rudy T era sure is a memorable one.

I haven't seen it, maybe I'll rent it.
    I haven't rented kung fu/fighting movie for a while.

this looks old school, so that must mean it's good.
my favorite is still this one:

I never question Scola's effort, humility, and heart either. Same for Landry and Battier.

on the contrary I believe Rudy did give Yao some special mystique that the legends of the Rockets who's names hang upon the rafters had

    actually it doesn't
The last 4 yrs are nothing more than RESTING ON THE SUCCESS RUDY BUILT!
They were a 1st round exit play off team WHEN RUDY LEFT
[they were on their way to the play off before he got sick
which killed the playoffs for that season]
    then
the next season JVG took a playoff team . . . strangely enough . .to the playoffs
    and
they lost to 4 Hall of Famers
    since then
they lost to a scrub dallas team and two scrub jazz teams

nnaaaa . . . Rudy's team were more exciting to me too

I don't question Bumble bee, Ratchet, or Iron Hide either

but we're talking about Optimus Prime giving Hot Rod the Matrix, thus making him Rodimus Prime.
