The way I read it was, The only player on our team that plays with heart/hustle is from the Rudy T era
Is it not a coincidence that the last player of the Rudy T generation is the player on our team that you never question about effort, humility and heart? The article "the" implies that Yao is the only player on our team that hustles.
is the author implying: a. Yao Ming under Rudy T learned about effort, humility and heart b. the author hates Luis Scola and doesn't think Luis Scola plays with heart c. Tracy McGrady has issues with effort, humility and heart d. none of the above e. all of the above f. 99ers rule, taking others to school!
Paper: Houston Chronicle Date: WED 12/25/2002 Section: Sports Page: 1 Edition: 3 STAR A HOLIDAY STORY / The ties that bind / AMID ALL THE CHAOS OF HIS TRANSITION TO AMERICA AND HIS NEW LIFE AS AN NBA STAR, YAO MING HAS ONE CONSTANT - HIS MOTHER Before Monday's game, Yao delivered Christmas cards to every teammate and Rockets employee. "I love him. I love him," Rockets guard Cuttino Mobley said. "He's not a cocky kid. He's lovable. I just love playing with him." Steve Francis has often repeated his now well-known quote: "He's just like me, except 7-foot-5 and Chinese."
To answer your question, there are a number of players on the team that play with heart and have a great work ethic. We don't win 22 straight last year without a roster chalk-full of those kind of players. So, yeah, it probably is a coincidence. Especially considering some of the other players from that era (Francis and Griffin immediately come to mind).
Last I checked, Yao was the only one from the Rudy T era, JVG era, and Rick the Ruler era. its not a coincidence that 30+ years of Rockets pride was passed on to Yao Ming.
Exactly my point. Now we never know who's next. Not that DM is doing a bad job just that we need a solid foundation to this team and we are building towards that. All we have now is Yao, everyone else is just !
