who will control artest if JVG takes over? isnt the whole reason artest came here RA? so, where will we be if JVG comes back and Artest leaves? maybe 2nd round bow out? or what happens if we have more injuries after JVG comes back? do you think he would be able to lead us to anything near the 22 game win streak? yeah, he makes some questionable calls and blatant mistakes but the man is human. hopefully they all learn from that.
Rudy only taught Yao for 1 year and he left for personel reason. As to the other two, the ring does make a difference.
If that is the case, there is no excuse for Yao not being able to play 40 minutes per game because some players can. If others can, why not Yao. Coach needs to change game plans according to players, not forcing players to do those they are not capable.
if the opposing team's center can shoot from the outside and is hot, and your center isnt quick enough, you play a box zone. it's where 4 of your players are in a zone, and then you have 1 player who runs around to guard the opposing team's hot player. was this not utilized? you could have asked artest/hayes or even landry to guard murphy on the 3pt line and have the rest of your players play zone. obviously, RA is not a defensive minded coach. hell, i dont think he's a good offensive coach either. remember, in a motion offense, it's the players who react and make decisions on what to do with their offense with what the defense gives them. the coach has nothing to do with that. i am definitely not a fan of rick adelman.
Hey, I am not blaming Adelman for no reason. The fact is, it is him, our head coach, who was blaming players, T-Mac, Yao, ... one loss after another yet I have never seen him taking responsibility. I think it is a bit unfair to players like Yao since everyone has a share in the recent loss and a head coach should take his own responsibility, not keep blaming others. As for your comment about the other two coaches, you know what our rosters were and where our team standed before Yao is drafted. I still believe that we have a great chance to advance in the playoff, simply because we have a strong team now, despite bad coaching. Adelman seems to be a nice old man. He actually seems to be pretty frank. But he refuse to reallize his sometimes bad coaching and take his responsibility. Instead, he bashes his players.
And I really have no credit for Adleman's decision at crunch time. I just remember he shook his head, especially the one with the Lakers. Adleman has used up all of the defense skills of players inherited from JV. From Yao's words ,I can see he even has no gameplan for the game with the Pacers. How ridiculous. A champion team at first should be a team with good defense.
For Yao ,it is his fault because he is not quick enough to defend a 3 shooter.and he has this weakness for a long long time. For the coach,JVG used to ask another player to help Yao to defend,So Yao formed the habit that he would stay in to protect the basket and rebound. Adelman just never knows it and never has a solution for this. This is why ,every team likes shoot in front of Yao
so umm, are you wanting all 7'6 centers to be more agile? you want him coming out for the defense and try letting one of our SMALL PF's to rebound. quick enough WTF do you want from a 7'6 guy?
I think the weakest part of RA's coaching is that he doesnot have enough skills to stimulate his players when they are facing adversity. A head coach's job is a lot more complex than merely O&D schemes. Let's wait and see how he handles this case.
i feel so tired of how RA using yao at last few minutes. there was 2 mistakes that RA made first of all, u can't let our big man to guard 3pter. murphy was so hot to shoot,so we can use landry or hayes to guard him but not yao. cuz if yao go out to guard murphy, the pacer can easily pass the ball to low-pose or make a lay-up 2nd, let's see what happen when yao out of court(replaced by louis) Granger missed his lay-up but tap it into the basket, why??? cuz yao was replaced by scola. and scola was not in front of granger. i am not blaming scola, but i am so confused about how RA use our men!!! i don't understand how RA using YAO this is the "worst yao" i have seen! RA ,bring my great wall back plz
sure with JVG yao can get his numbers, but the thing is JVG's offence never be good either. and yes we do need JVG type def back but yao was also our def liability back to JVG's time.
Yao left his man wide open and he hit 2 three pointers in a row.....you have to at least be in the vicinity. Sometimes I think Yao outsmarts himself....this was one of those times. DD
