Ultimately McHale gets the credit for the defense... Just like everyone gives Phil Jackson credit but forgets he has never won NOTHING without Tex Winters holding his hand... McHale is the head coach and he knows what a good defense is because he played on one. So regardless of what Sampson is doing if McHale can't interject and fix it _ it's on him. Sampson has no say on lineups and substitutions. Being a assistant coach in basketball is not like being a defensive coordinator in football. But truthfully _ IMO _ they all can go..
I agree for the most part. This was after the Laker game. If the starter keep on being down by 17 in the 1st of 2nd qtrs Lin might need to start and carry the bench.
Whatever Yao says is like gold to me. Amazingly even more than Dream, because he tends to be more politically correct. Yao tell it like it is.
But the Lin just has too much humility to even remotely care about face-losing. He understands where McHale is coming from from his career with Celts. Much better to come off bench and play 30+ minutes and score 30+ points than start for 6 minutes of each half. The YAO speaks of nothing but the TRUTH. I hope Morey takes a grain of salt on Yao's point on the PF having a mid-range game, instead of going all bonkers on the paint and trifectas based on pure numbers. Okay I got a proposal. How about YAO FOR HEADCOACH?
That's because Hakeem has been officially hired by the Rockets so he's got a whole guideline in dealing with the media to follow. Yao on the other hand, is not bound by that guideline. Not yet at least
sometimes, you need someone to step up and tell the guys they are doing it wrong in the face, Mchale should hire a new defensive assistant
