I think this is definately something to consider. With zone D's having a center who can occassionally shoot outside shots a big asset it might also force the other teams big man to come out and open the lanes. The big drawback to this though is you lose his rebounding. Of course Yao isn't the greatest rebounder so if they Rox had a great rebounder to go with Yao they could have Yao taking more outside shots. Ironically the Francis - Yao Rox might've been better suited to having Yao shooting outside since they had a rebounder in Cato and fast cutters who would benefit from having the other team's shotblocker going out on the perimeter. Also for those who remember Rox history the George Karl Sonics had Sam Perkins shoot threes to great affect by forcing Hakeem to come out and defend him.
Yao is a tall shooter. I don't like it -- it's a waste of 7'6" -- but that's what he is. I'd like to see a 3-point shooting contest between Yao, Anderson, and Wesley. Anybody willing to bet on who'd win?
doesnt have to be 3's just some nice outside shooting if JVG doesnt want him shooting 3's but yao can nail those
yea he needs to take some more of the 15 foot jumpers but why would u want him to take 3's we dont need to have another raef or wang zuzu, a 7'6" man does not need to be out further then 15 feet
