LOL! Who is getting heated and dropping curse words (heavens forbid we do that!)? And I definitely don't see no racist comments anywhere. So no reason to close this thread.

I personally apologize to all the sensitive girls who were offended by my comments.

I meant screw the chinese govt for making Yao play. chinese people and especially chinese food are all right in my book.

Wow you're being a dick. Is "Screw China" not a racist comment in your book? Last time I checked, if somebody said Screw USA they get a -50 thumbs down in youtube.

You need to just apologize properly and understand that there are chinese people here who love their country and are deeply offended by what you said. Calling them "girls" just portrays you as some guy going around insulting others and calling them girls when they talk back to you.

If you thought others misunderstood you, just say it... Don't go around insulting others if they misunderstood you.

What you say there is too rational to penetrate R0ckets03's thick female skull.

Rockets03, what you are doing just shows that you know you have something uncalled for, but you are not man enough to give a sincere apology.

So if you hate the Chinese Government (If that is what you really mean), why don't you just say Chinese Government? And if that was the case why don't you just tell others that earlier instead of going on about how right you were and how others were "sensitive girls" for being offended by "Screw China".

Screw Utah is offensive to those who love that state. But you're not offending the entire country, on that state. If you say "Screw China" you're basically saying "Screw Chinese people". Is being Racist ok with you?

That's just a matter of opinion. I'm sure that multiple players in the NBA would rather win a Gold Medal representing their country in the olympics than win an NBA Title. There is honor and prestige of unprecedented caliber. And by no means is the NBA bigger than the olympics.

I would rather win a gold medal for my country, especially if my country wasn't the big bad US of A, seeing as they are overwhelming favorites every 4 years. You would be remembered for so much more in your country, the place where you have people you care about most.

It's up to Yao, but I do feel Yao cant be off the hook for not taking caring of his body. His weight and size limit him to just that much basketball game and practice a year, and gruesome nature of NBA even make it worse. I don't agree that because Rockets are paying him big money, so he should retire from international basketball. But Yao has to recognize where his physical limitation is. If he goes down again on one more injury to a new body part, I am going to go mad on him. He has to learn how to say no.

Rockets03, the point these few are trying to make is that what you might not consider offensive is offensive to others. This situation is unfortunate and while you don't seem to have meant to offend anyone, it would still be best if you just apologized and moved on, even though you meant no harm. I'm not telling you that you did wrong or right, it's just unfortunate that some were offended by your comments, and for that reason alone you should apoligize.

    Just my two cents :D

Maybe we should just get someone who can play 30 good minutes a game at C to be able to rest Yao at every little opportunity.

I don't mind bringing his minutes down to 30-32 minutes per game for the regular season.

trust me, 100% of american players would rather win an NBA championship rather than an Olympic gold medal. do people talk about patrick ewing and charles barkley any better b/c they won the gold medal? or do they talk down on them b/c of their lack of an NBA championship ring? same with stockton and karl malone.

when you talk about the greatness of MJ, do you talk about him winning a gold medal or NBA championships?

NBA championships bring these players more respect, fame, money...than an olympic gold medal.

i agree with you chinese cares more for this than americans. to them, it's more of a national pride.

i'm just looking at it from a sports fan point of view. people around the world would have more respect for yao if he wins an NBA championship -> he wins at the highest level against the best players in the world.

imagine him being the first chinese player to win an NBA championship? how about an NBA MVP? do you know how much that would bring respect and notoriety to china and chinese basketball as a whole? do you know how big of a legend yao would be not only in china (which he already is regardless), but also in america and around the world.

let's be real, yao is not that highly regarded outside of china in terms of basketball dominance. if you ask a normal NBA fan of who yao is, they probably would say he's a big chinese basketball player that's pretty good.

all i'm saying is yao would really make a name for himself AND his country if he wins an NBA championship and potential an NBA finals MVP.

LOL at the thread title, I was liek wtf?

You said after these Olympics right? Well that could be reasonable, but he definitely wants to play in these Olympics especially considering how important it is (being held in China and all, you know). But the next Olympics are in another four years, so who knows (well there are other times when he can play in the Chinese team but yeah).

Personally I would concentrate on winning an NBA championship ring first but like if I had to opportunity to represent my country I would, unless it would seriously affect my condition which I doubt is the case for Yao?

He should just fire his trainer and stop working out like he is going for the decathalon. Working out puts stress on your body and training like a maniac is shortening his career.

If really want Yao to play for Rox..We should support Yao to play for country..

    1. Yao brings profits from his country for Rox, so Rox managers should allow him to play for homeland.
    2. Yao loves his country, and he need his Chinese fans and Chinese market to support him to play in the league , so he deserve playing for Chinese national team
Yao's value = basketball talent + Chinese market behind him
what Rox want from Yao= basketball talent + Chinese market behind him
what NBA want from him= basketball talent + Chinese market behind him

if Yao don't play for homeland, then...
    Yao's value = basketball talent
Rox and the league lost the Chinese market ..

Will he stay here to play for us?

if the managers don't care about his efforts to Rox one day...
playing for homeland in the Olympics at least give him chance to invite more teams all over the world..

if u are Yao , would u play for Chinese national team? :)
