Don't pay a lazy player. If you get offered a job for twice as much as you're worth do you turn it down? I just don't see how it's their fault they are overpaid. You would be a fool to not take the money. People in New York shouldn't be mad at any of those players on the Knicks they should be mad at Isiah Thomas. ...and houston is not paying for these contracts. Les Alexander is. That's like walking into a store and telling the clerk that you pay his salary because you shop there.
That's why I said he will never be great because he'll always be injured. They might as well rob the clippers and move forward. They might could land Brand, Kaman, thomas and a lotto pick for Jackson,Yao, and scola. For the most part, brand has been a better scorer, rebounder and shot blocker at 6'8. Kaman provides a 7 ft er that can get 16ppg 13rebs and 3 blks, while Thomas is a big versitile forward that succeedes in the playoffs. The money is close, give Brand an extension and roll. The rox may not have anta shoe deals or whatever, but they will be a better team and have guys committed to winning a title. That's what its all about isn't it?
Typically though stadiums are built by municipalities. Alexander's been subsidized by tax money from the city of Houston. Not to mention that it's ordinary fans who buy the tickets and t-shirts that keep his organization and the rest of the NBA afloat.
Yes, but all of these things don't hinge on one player's salary. Arenas last a long time and people who come to see one player perform well can stay at home if that person isn't fullfilling their expectations. My point was that you can't belittle Yao for playing in international competitions because he is making $17M next season. Thats ridiculous. Its like telling someone they can't work on their house while their at home because it makes them tired at work. You pay that person for their job and if you don't like their production you should find someone who you think can do the job better. But if you can't just be grateful for what you have.
You can hope the CNT decides to play Yao on a light schedule over the summer though. Good will games, demonstrations, public relations events--stuff like that is fine. Working him to the bone over the summer isn't going to help the CNT out either. The point is that Yao's not going to be worth a lot to either the CNT or the Rockets if he's overworked. If it were up to me Yao would have three months over the summer to hang out in China and relax.
I agree Yao's body is taking too much punishment. He will never make it through a full NBA season if he keeps pulling double duty. Maybe the Rockets should let Yao rest during the first 20 games of the season, because even if Yao wanted to quit the Chinese team (which doesnt appear to be the case), I dont think communist China would let him.
I share the same sentiments and hope but i do see it as a little unlikely. The rockets knew what they were getting into it was made very clear before he was even drafted where his allegiance is.
Lol, you need to understand that if you insult a country, you're insulting its people. And its rude and ignorant anyways to say that. If saying "screw china" is not offensive to chinese people, then I don't know what is
i think he meant the government. americans and others say "screw bush" and nobody cares. most encourage it
My loyalty lies with the Rockets. If China is somehow preventing Yao from giving his best to the Rockets then you know what...Screw China. Screw anyone that gets in my Rockets ways. Does that make you feel better?
And who do you think you are? A big die-hard Rockets fan right? But what makes you think you can say things like that? FYI, Yao has repeately said he wants to play for China, it's not like he is being forced. For you to say something like "screw china" and "screw anyone that gets in my Rockets was" just shows how immature you are. Please, grow up.
If you mean screw the Chinese government, by all means say so. When others say screw USA, people tend to think they mean the americans. Didn't you watch the CNN show about this guy who called China a bunch of thugs and thieves and how much rage that brought up. In the end that guy apologized and claimed it was aimed towards the government, well big difference there. You should be more specific. By the way, the rockets are already aware of the fact that Yao has to play for China. I don't want him to play for China either, but you can't blame the chinese people for that. Yao is the biggest sports star in China, and their best hope in getting gold in olympics. Its great honor for one to win for their country.
Lets make an example It's like if your biggest basketball Superstar (Kobe Bryant) actually plays in the CBA league..china league (think of CBA as the best league)..wouldnt you want him to play for USA? and how would u feel if the people in china said screw USA for finding ways to make Kobe play for USA...
if he doesn't want to play, he doesn't have to play. america encourages freedom of choice. a lot of NBA players have declined to play basketball b/c of commitment to their own team. do americans get mad? no. the NBA is bigger than the olympics. the only way you can show you are the best in the world is to win against the best basketball competition in the world and that's the NBA. if kobe loses in the playoffs this year and wins in the olympics, you think he's any happy? he'll probably get over the olympic win after 24 hours. that's why china needs to develop other players. basketball is growing there. if yao doesn't have to play (he must play in the olympics so i don't knock him there), then don't force him. develop your players -> that will allow more chinese players to play in the NBA and expand their talent.
Well actually Yao must but wants to play for China. Besides this year the olympics is actually held in China. I think Yao knows this is one of the biggest things in China. How often do you get the olympics to be held in your country? Not too often, thats why Yao wants to play for China. I actually think its kinda selfish for other people to say Yao shouldn't play for China because the Olympics won't be held in China again after this, at least not for another 50 years or so. By the way, Yao is pretty much the only talent in China. America has it all over the place. If America only had one very good player, I don't think the country will be too happy if he doesn't play for America.
Nah, it means too much to him. He's gonna play like it or not and we'll hold our breath if he goes down.
lol i know the "freedom of speech" rule but that doesn't mean you can say things to hurt others. sigh..i am done, i tried to do this nicely but no, you just have to think like that... good luck in life
