I think Yao will need to make a stand and refuse to play in those commercial games for the Chinese national team.
He would do that. Remember how the Chinese media dogged him for taking a break so he could get married?
Lol? Do I even need to explain why what I said made sense? China is a country and race issue would be brought up if you say this.
Hey, buddy, I see your point, a good one, but the title is just right. I, as a Chinese fan, also hate those sports officials who pin their hope for political gain on a Yao-elevated national team. But, as many others note, you do want to represent your country at the Olympics. So, leg help Yao get rid of all those meaningless games and concentrate on bigger ones, no matter it's NBA finals or Olympic games.
Hey, baby, you know what? Geographically speaking, China is the third largest country in the world, only after Russia and America. It has the highest peak, the second or third longest rive and a whole area of 9,600,000 square km. Are your sure you still want to screw China, becasue I guess you really need a BIG BIG dick. lol
You know there are many Chinese fans who read this board, why would you have to say that, especially when this is a basketball board? Either you are a douche bag or you have screwed up your own mind.
fixed. BTW, The NT commitment is part of Yao's whole basketball career. The Rockets managements knew it when they drafted him, they also knew it when they signed a MAX contact with him. Why some fans here still can't see and accept this as a fact?
From purely a Rockets fan standpoint I would love for Yao to quit playing for the Chinese national team and spend his offseasons recuperating and developing his skills. Since he has come to the Rockets though, part of the reason I like him as a player is his drive and commitment to basketball. That includes his country's team. He wouldn't be nearly as good as he is without that will to be the best, the extra hours in the gym, studying film while others play cards type of focus. That came from his upbringing, and even though I am a Rockets fan first, I understand his need to play for China. That very thing is largely responsible for the player he his today and I know that player is one we can all appreciate.
Yao should play with CNT but not every year to qualify. He should be allowed to rest during the Summer. This year I hope he does well at the Olympics.
No reason to tell me to "grow the F up". That's totally unnecassary - don't get personal. All I'm saying is - it's great that he plays for his country. He's done it and I think a good time for it to end would be after the Olympics. If you don't think my opinion is the smae as yours - fine. But check out "how not to post" thread - OK?
We knew what we were getting into when we drafted Yao. His playing year round and most likely never playing anywhere near 82 games in a season was a trade-off the Rockets (and 99% of the posters here) were willing to take at the time. It's never going to change, so why even bring it up?
i have no reason to believe Yao will ever stay healthy for an entire season. it's his body makeup that won't allow it, and the olympics wont help the cause. i've heard of people saying to limit his minutes in the regular season. his only season where he played a full 82 games was when he averaged 32 mins, so 30-32 mins would be a good range....probably less since he'll be playing basketball the entire offseason.
Weird. I could have sworn I've used it to buy literally thousands of things over the course of my life.
If you were China, you would be pissed off at the Rockets, he plays a lot more for them than he does for China. I think the Rockets staff needs to find a way to minimize the impact on his lower body.....maybe let him practice less, or do less roadwork. Yao also needs to be smarter......get his work in, but in a much less impact oriented regiment...ala running in a pool. DD
