Folks, when facing against these stupid bashings which are nothing but nonsense, just stop reading them, get out of the computer, and be glad that other teams are jealous about Rockets having Yao

There's only one man, and he's not even in the league. Chuck Norris.

As much as I dislike Rosen's attitude and tone, I thought overall it was a critical yet fair assessment of his weaknesses. Now, if he could have given equal time to Yao's strengths, I would have been satisfied.

Yao has gone away somewhat from the pump-fakes and up and under moves. Rosen doesn't like it, but it appears he's been more effective overall not resorting to any of that cute stuff. He'll eventually start adding those aspects to his post game effectively.

Yao's greatest weakness, by far, on the basketball court is playing defensively away from the basket. That's true. It seems that most defensive breakdowns when Yao is on the court are a result of his inability to guard away from the basket or run back in transition.

With all that, however, the numbers show that the Rockets have been a much stronger defensive team with Yao on the court (opponets are -5.2/100 possessions). So maybe he should be getting credit for some of the others things he does well on defense.

Some of the others things, like Yao should use his elbows more to get position, are ridiculous. Yao's elbows are usually at his defender's head. He'd get called for the foul pretty much every time.

I agree with this. But to follow up on what someone said, this game would be the one Rosen chose to dissect during the last month. It's ironic that I don't think Yao had a particularly great game last night, but isn't it utterly amazing he put up 36 & 9 and it seems like a yawn?

Even if Yao were to lack potential to improve from his play during the last month he is currently in elite company. And if he is our "second banana" next year we'll be either very great or very stupid.

Who cares if he's a second banana if T-Mac is on the team? Even still, nobody can win with this current crap team full of coach's favorites.

Rosen has always been an idiot. He usually only writes articles on players/teams when they are losing. He gives very basic basketball analysis, but chubs it up with big words to make him seem superior. He has said that LeBron James would never be a good player based off of one high school game. Even the biggest LeBron haters here would admit that's ridiculous.

Yes, Yao is slow. Yao is not explosive. Revelations! What is he supposed to do about that?

When you find weaknesses in a good player, you are an analyst; when you only find weaknesses in a good player, you are a hater.

Before they dissed the guy based on statistics simply because he couldn't average 20/10. Yeah statistics didn't lie and their bashing was based on 'objective' evidence.

Now the guy has reached the milestone 20/10 and so these people cannot use the statistics as an excuse anymore. So now they have to analyze the guy's every move in the game and then pick it apart.

Yao being 7'6" and 310 lbs still cannot jump over 3 defenders and then make a 720 windmill dunk. What a surprise.

Yao being 7'6" and 310 lbs still cannot crossover the 6'2" guards and do wacky dribbles. What a surprise.

    How pathetic it is.

Next year, TMac will be the second banana. If healthy, that is.

It pretty much sounds like he's bashing any one that has a pet move. I mean Hakeem pretty much had two go to moves in his career. The fadeaway to the baseline, and the drive in one handed hook shot to the middle of the paint. Shaq for all extents and purposes really only had to rely on one move. Bump his big ass back into his defender and get 5 feet next to the basket and slam it in. Duncan is very similar. Face up jumper off the backboard or a drive into the paint for a hook shot. Would he talk **** about Kareem because he would constantly go with the skyhook night in and night out? Absolutely not. What about Jordan either working the baseline or doing his fadeaway jumper from midrange? Just about every greater that has ever played the game has had atleast one or two pet moves that would get them to the foul line or be a high percantage shot. If Yao's "robotic" mechanics are so slow, why does he leave smaller 7 footers so flat footed? Why is he able to bury them under the basket for easy buckets? What exactly is wrong with having a couple of go to moves that are going to create open buckets, or send you to the foul line? I just don't understand the hate with going with what works.

on the positive side i like how on all these lists of great players who needed a second star to win a championship no one can mention dream in 95.

sure his role players were perfect for the system, but he was the one and only MAN.

hakeem = greatest player ever. :)

Choke, gasp, wheeze. ARRRGH!!!! "Pretty much two go to moves"? Yeah, that's what everyone says.

Er, basline spin. 180 in the paint with either a hook, jumper or under and over. Reverse fadeaway from anywhere, dribble shake-and-bakes for js and slams.

Dream seriously needed more offensive game.

You seem to have forgotten Otis Thorpe's 14/11 during the 1994 championship season. That was a huge contribution. If we had anybody like Otis in recent games against the Spurs and the Nets, we would have won both games easily.

Give Kobe the supporting cast that Yao currently has, Kobe will still lose.
Give Yao the supporting cast that Kobe currently has, Yao will have a decent W/L record. Though, both rockets and lakers are called as one man team now.
