that thread ends at post 112 for me. I think the other one got deleted? I had posted about Yao's mindset and some other posters connected to Yao's mindset and said everything's fine.
I think he is just being careful and letting fans be ready in case the worst is to come. I'm chinese and I typically downplay myself too. It's not traditional for a chinese to go out and say i'm going to dominate the court, I gaurantee it, like tmac.
What gets lost amidst this hysteria is what a stand up and loyal guy Yao is. If these reports are true, you have to tip your hat to Yao for opting in to his contract rather than signing a long term deal.
i wouldnt be surprised if he has a t-mac-like (from 2008-2009) season where he is in and out of the rotation. I know he wants to play and come back healthy and be loyal to the rockets, but i just dont think he is healthy. Take this for what its worth, but a buddy of mine was at a rehab facility rehabbing after an acl surgery and saw Yao was there as well rehabbing. he's no doctor, but he mentioned that his foot did not look like it was a year removed from surgery (his words were actually: "he's fked."). This happened almost two months ago if i recall correctly.
That's ot good thing to say while your team and the whole orgnization is depending on you next season.
No, it would not. True Rockets fans love their team before any one player. It will be a sad if Yao has to retire early, but everyone has to retire at some time.
This just in: Yao said he will retire one of his legs and join the wheelchair basketball club next year.
FWIW Yao has said and it has been understood that the 08 olympics would be his last time playing with the National team. This is not news for anyone at the Rockets
the problem with that article is that he misstates the current state of Yao Ming when he says: " Yao isn't saying, "if I get injured again, I'll hang it up." He's saying that if his foot doesn't heal...he'll hang it up. the difference may be subtle...but is pretty significant. He's ALREADY injured. We're not talking about the off chance (which isn't as off as I'd like for it to be) that he gets injured again after he makes a full recovery. We're not talking about, as the author says, "further foot problems." We're talking about the chance that his CURRENT injury doesn't heal properly. No further injury is necessary for what Yao is talking about. Also...for this article to be remotely relevant, I'd like to know if the writer has already injured his pinkie...if he's been unable to do his job 50% of the time because of injuries since 2005. If the answer is yes, then we can explore the comparison. Otherwise, pretending that this is the same thing is pretty ridiculous.
just asked my friend and he said this occurred at the memorial hermann near kirby and 59 around 6 weeks ago, right before Yao left for China.
TMac's back problems were already an issue before the trade; I remember discussions on that topic right here in ClutchFans. You are right about the warnings regarding Yao; giants have predictable health issues.
tmac didnt miss many games bc of his back. his demise was his knee, which he actually never had issues with in the past if i recall.
seriously, do you really know what yao said. he had an interview with chinese media. he, i have no doubt, spoke in chinese. the closest thing to the truth i believe came from a post by taiwan's media. let's not make assumption that yours are truth.
