I don't think his foot injuries are impact related at all, I thought they were stress fractures. It's more related to how much wear and tear his feet can handle before it gives. Even then I'm not aware of anything but wraps/tape to protect feet and ankles.
I think i know why Yao is injured year after year. It's the curse of Tmac...McLazy lazy eyes make people sleep when they stare into his eyes causing massive lethargic to the body. Therefore, making players susceptible to injury due to lack of energy and concentration. This also explain why Rockets staffs want Tmac to stay away from the team facility as much as possible while under recovery.
You guys have to understand target audience of Yao's speech is Chinese folks, that's why he talked to his home country media. To them, he's not just a professional basketball player of himself, he's the image of China right now. People expect more from him than us which means more pressure, so Yao got to lower their expectation somehow.
He's already lowered everybody's expectations after several years of injury. Actions speak louder than words.
This got blown way out of proportion. But if his foot doesn't heel (which would suck), we would have cap space to go after a big free agent.
I just viewed a video shown on NBA .com dated 28th july 2010. It showed Yao back at the Rockets training facility. I was shocked to see that Yao was still seated while taking his shots from the court Could this be an error in that they used an old video as though it was in the present? PS The funny thing I just returned to NBA.com and the article & Video has been withdrawn from the article!
Bah! Clearly those legs have been photoshopped onto Yao's body. Anyone can see that. As Arnold would say, those are girly legs, not manly legs! And how can he be so relaxed? How is that possible, knowing the raging debate going on at ClutchFans about him? Bah! When will we discover the truth? What is everyone hiding?? Yao, come post here and clear this up, once and for All Time!!
Just reminding all those posters saying to "trade Yao" that if this injury and all is even half as bad as it seems, then he will be retiring after his year. As a result, he would become an expiring contract. Trading a large expiring contract makes a lot of sense when you are getting some big name players, but as everyone keeps pointing out, there are no such players available (Granger, AI, etc. are not championship centerpieces). The only point to trade Yao and his expiring contract would then be take on a large, longer lasting contracts and get draft picks would basically mean some of the players with the worst contracts in the NBA. Completely does not sound like a Morey move. It especially makes little sense when the Rockets already have so many expiring contracts in Jeffries and Battier, and ll those trade exceptions, which are more likely to be effective to net future picks. Basically, Yao is more likely to retire this offseason than to be trade for anything.
