Do Chinese people have higher fracture rates? Or did Yao just eat more rice than most cause he's so big.

Posting this in the most convenient Yao thread.
I just found this video for the first time and thought it was awesome! It's a ClutchCityReturns production so kudos to him!
I'm including the blurb for it so we don't get an argument going on here about Yao vs Dream:

"Keep in mind this video is NOT meant to say that Yao = Hakeem. That's r****ded. It's just meant to represent SOME similarities in their games, despite the fact that they're very different physically. Hakeem was recently quoted as saying he wants to work with Yao next summer if their schedules allow it and that was basically my inspiration for the video. I hope you like it."

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pk0MPyiJBbc&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pk0MPyiJBbc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

    Thanks for making the video!

Actuallly you tf'in know it all...if you knew anything you would know that Muresan (7'8) actually DID have major foot issues his entire career. Bol (7'8), Sampson (7'4) and Bradley(7'7) had knee problems that forced retirement. Smits (7'4) had the same kind of foot issues.

and yao isn't breaking his foot every year. he has just broken the same bone twice and that is the problem

Mind you. Even after he joined NBA, he still ate home most of the time when he was in Houston. And it was still rice from his Mom (and now probably his wife).

And if your logic has a point, then all Chinese will have brittle bones !!! :D

Dear God, I know we don't speak very often, and I suppose that's because I'm an agnostic, but allow me to propose an agreement. If you make this thread go away, I'll reconsider whether you actually exist. Of course, if you could mail me a photo of Jesus riding a dinosaur that would also be a big help. Still, between the two, nothing would be more proof of an intelligent designer than the deletion of this thoroughly unintelligent thread.

    Signed, I want to believe.

Instead of bashing Yao why dont people Just wish Him well and hope for a speedy recovery. He is still a Rocket and his recovery benefits him and the team.

it's a done deal for yao ming this coming up season. I don't see yao getting in shape by the time the season's over! it'll be sad. or maybe he'll be ready by play-offs with mcgrady.

i don't think he will be out of shape...he sounds like he is going to work out upper body until the cast comes off...then he will be able to ride a bike etc...i'm sure when the boot comes off, he will see some light and will be able to start shooting etc...
after that it dependps on how fast he heals and where we are in the standings...i think yao will push to come back if we are in the mix.....its a wait and see ...but knowing Yao he has not given up on the season yet...he admitted that even after he broke his foot agaisnt LA he tried to convince Keithe Jones to come back in game 6 and 7 since he did not feel pain but the rockets would not let him (thankfullY)...
when March comes aournd he will be 7 months removed from surgery..there is a chnce he could come back...

This will be the best possible scenario. If He can try and be allowed to play by March which is more then 6 months from now, then anything can happen for the team. It will all depend on him to try to rehabilitate as fast as he can without risking his career and the doctors allowing him to come back that soon. His a fighter and given a chance to compete He will.

Yao needs to make decision based on his career and long term health. He rushes back and get hurt again, that will do it for him Not to mention, you don't want to be 60 with arthritis in you foot from everything else. It wwould be great to see him come back this year, but if this isn't done right, his nba career can suddenly end.

my point exactly...i don't think enough emphasis is given on how hard a player rehabs...there is a difference in the way guys rehab...when guys like Tmac, stoudemire, marbury, francis rehab is different from how Yao rehabs..the guy puts in alot more time and effort..that is huge when you are coming off an injury so i think if all goes well, there is still a chance he comes back next season...if we need him for the playoff push!!
