So how is that different than ANYTHING else that the Lakers do? Pretty much everything the Lakers do pisses off everyone outside of "lala land". Lakers are one of the most maligned teams in the history of modern sports, with or without Karl Malone.

When Pippen became a Rocket, I almost abandoned the team. I just couldn't cheer for a guy like him. Fortunately, he's gone in a short time. I have always said that I don't want Shaq on my team, even at the peak of his career a couple of years back. There are some players I just can't root for, even if they are on my team. Malone is definitely one of them.

LakerMania, if Yao did to Malone what Malone did to Boki, I'd cheer, NOT because Yao was on my team, but because he's doing it to Malone, who had been doing it all his life. If Yao did to other innocent players, I'd criticize him even if he's on my team. I've always been against making Yao into a thuggish type of player, even if it means making him more dominant.

Nap, no one I know has ever said Shaq is dirty when he constantly knock people down the floor. People hate the Lakers because they jealous, or fearful of them. But adding a true dirty player like Malone just legitimize that hatry now!

You still don't get it, do you? It's not about the Lakers. It's about Malone. Everyone, except the deluded Laker fans, will cheer when Malone gets hurt not because he is a Laker but because he is who he is. Get it?

I loved the Lakers before Karl Malone and Gary Payton showed up this season. The Rockets hadn't been in the playoffs for awhile so I always rooted for the Lakers.

    I despise the Lakers now

Ok guys I am out, it was fun talking with you.

I hope Yao has a great game, so that he doesn't have to end the season with people dogging on him about his ability and motivation....

......but I still hope we kick your arse!

I only want some one, either a Rockets, or a Spurs, or a mafia, to make sure that Malone is wheelchair bound the rest of his life, or to be better, ER bound for the rest of his life.

I have never hated a professional player as much as I hate this guy.

    Justice will be served eventually.:p

How come I do not "hate" Karl Malone? Maybe it is just me.

    When it comes to "hate", these athletes or teams comes to mind;

    The Cubs
    Mavericks
    The St Loius Cards
    The indomitable lions of Cameroon
    The black stars of Ghana
    Q
    Pippen
    Ray Lewis

I agree how you tolerate dirty ness of a player when he is on your team. Like when we had Oakley, we all wanted him to take some one out. ;)

Anyways, it's great to hear this about Yao. Although I am really skeptic on to whether he would actually say such a thing. It is out of character. Anyways, true or not. This just got me 100% more pumped up for tonights win! Go Rockets!!!

You hate the Cubs? I've never met anyone who hates the Cubs. I only meet mockers, people who make fun of the Cubs. What do they have going for anyone to hate them?

I hate the Cubs b/c their announcer sucks, they beat the Astros by 1 friggen game, they are over-rated, their wind blows out and Sosa hits a ton of homers there, where Bagwell played at the spacious Astrodome, Sosa also has to cheat and cork his bat. and they are "Losers" lovable or not, I actually refer to them as the "hatable losers."

All this hate though doesn't match the hate for Karl Mailman Malone.

Oh yea, one more reason to hate Quitten Pippen; when they played the Jazz in the final he told Malone that the mailman doesn't deliver on Sundays, since then Malone plays his best on that day. What day was Game 4 again?

No, it's not just you. I don't hate Malone either. To me, he's the ultimate blue collar player, who got better every year by his hard work, while young flashy players like Iverson had fits about coming off the bench and had their "crew" order them food and count their tats and "bling bling."

I agree with those who were saying if he's on your team, you love him. He is a warrior. Ask any NBA coach if they'd want Malone on the team. Of course they would. Francis and Yao may call him dirty when he's their opponent, but ask them privately how they'd feel if Karl was their teammate, their eyes would light up in anticipation of having someone that committed to coming to work every day and working hard no matter what.

I completely understand the feelings toward Malone for being an opponent, but to me a lot of people let their rivalries blind them to the true character of someone. I try not to do that. There have been many players I "hated" because they were the opponents of teams I was for, like Jordan, Shaq, Bryant, just to name a few. And of course Phillip, their coach, but I respect all of those players for their talent and their work ethic. And that doesn't make me any less of a Rockets fan, despite what some say. I enjoyed Nachbar's block on Malone just as much as every other Rockets fan, even though I don't share the hatred of Malone.

That having been said, I will have no problem with Yao or anyone else knocking Malone down hard in tonight's game. :D The Rockets can be warriors too. They have already showed tremendous heart and will in this series already in my opinion, and tonight will truly show what this team is made of. The great teams find a way to get it done when faced with the brink of elimination on the road. We'll see what happens tonight. GO ROCKETS!!

Man, playing dirty and playing hard are different. Carla lovers should at least know that.

I hate Malone and the Utah Jazz

How many of you guys were devout Rocket fans in the mid-90s?

    I don't hate Bowen, I don't hate Kobe, I don't hate Shaq, I don't hate the Spurs, I don't hate David Robinson, I don't hate Tim Duncan...all these guys are opponents but I don't hate them.

I DO hate Karl Malone. (hate is a strong word, I dislike him)

Nobody has ever accused Malone of being lazy or having bad work ethic. He is accused of being a dirty player. It is not just rivalry stuff. Kobe is a rivalry and he's arrogant, so I don't like him. But nobody has ever accused Kobe as dirty.

Don't confuse being so-called "blue collar" with being dirty. Mario Elie was a blue collar player. Otis Thorpe was a blue collar player. Kevin Willis is a blue collar players. They have never been called dirty.
