Nice car.. you could slap a Benz emblem on it and sell it to a bunch of idiots for $40,000 and call it at CLK..
http://video.vividas.com/media/4242_Webcast/web/ The Toyota AURION Car looks ok... but the Australian chick singer (esp. final revelation) looked hotter
haha. I was considering to buy the Hyndai XG300 cuz the front looks almost identical to one of the Jaguar cars.
I don't think all Chinese hate the Japanese, but a lot of them do based on history and public sentiment. They have the dislike in China kind of like the French in the US, but with more animosity towards those that hate. regardless, its yao's choice to not sponsor and until he states his exact reason, its stupid for us to assume if its one way or another.
Are you listening to what they are saying? Hypothetically, would you ask why Chris Rock would refuse to be a spokesperson for the NRA? After WWII, would you ask why Elvis Presley would refuse to be a spokesperson for Volkswagon? In 1975, would you ask why (insert wholesome American here) would refuse to endorse (insert random Russian company here)? Do you think in 2002, an prominant member of the Repulican party would be a spokesperson for anything French? I know its hard to imagine these days, but sometimes things are more important than money. If you don't understand the underlying issue, its probably best you just don't comment. Yea, maybe this thread doesn't belong here.
Methinks this thread oughta go into the forum "Rockets Classifieds: Buy/Sell/Trade" since we are talkin' about car and stuff here.
Yeah, I don't think US invaded France, unjustly imprisoned civilians, tortured them and performed experiments on civilians with biological weapons. So there is a slight difference between the two cases.
You should compare the hatred the Chinese have towards the Japanese to those that the Europeans towards the Americans since 9/11 in general. Sure the French, especially the Parisian, are very rude to English speaking Americans, but the Spanish, German, Italian, and even the Swiss mass public treat the Americans like public enemy #1.
There is definitely some hypocracy going on in China then. Because when I was there in Beijing in late November of last year the limo driver from the airport was driving an Acura A8....
Well, after the first couple of posts, this thread hasn't had anything to do with the Rockets... close it, please.
It is not everyone that is against buying Japanese goods, but the number is very large. Yao has enough money already, why risk ruining his image by becoming a Toyota spokesperson?
For the record, I've traveled to France, Italy and Jamaica (where I met several other Europeans there on vacation) since 9/11 and I found everybody very agreeable and there was no animonisty towards me, personally. They MIGHT expresse disgust with American politics but they were very nice to me. I wouldn't want this comment to be misinterpreted and perpetuate a myth that people spit on Americans as we walk down the street.
yeah you are right. they are the best ever. that why all the officials drive them. oh wait they all drive Audi's
You meant Audi A8? I have never heard of Acura A8. Anyways, Chinese animosity against Japanese is very obvious, and it's even more intense amongst the younger generations. There'll always be conflicts between these two countries.
Its amazing your lack of any argument that Chinese cars don't suck yet you try to discredit me. China cannot produce the tight tolerance machinery. Anyways And people from mainland don't hate japanese they dislike them to omit the atrocities from WWII and are scared that japan will try to invade again. So Yao has nothing to gain from a relationship with Toyota. He is following the Party's politics pretty well.
You go from one extreme to the other. Did I ever say that the Chinese cars would be the best or that they are the worst? No. Your sophisticated assessment ("those suckers are gonna be trash) of a product that you've never used nor available to the general public is unfortunately not something that most people here are willing to take at face value. The cars from China might or might not be good quality, we'll have to wait till someone test drives this for one of the vairous automobile publications out there and gives us a review on it, then we can decide if they are indeed trash. Do you even know what tight tolerance is, or is this another one of your sophisticated assessments. yes the #2 military in the world is afraid of the country that has in its constitution laws which prohibit any sort of military buildup. Just because I don't like roaches doesnt mean I'm afraid of them. yes of course you would know what Yao is thinking. I forget how good you are at reading my mind simply from my emoticon. There's no possible way Yao might be saying no because maybe he doesn't like Toyota's policies, or maybe he doesn't want to endorse a car, etc. No, everyone has to be thinking the way you think of them.
