Yeah, the real "Dream Shake" would have been to pump fake one more time when Yao ended up doing his hook shot.

"Drive, pump fake, pivot, pump fake, duck under, shoot."

DREAM SHAKE? You obviously don't know what the Dream Shake™ is?

    lol, yeah.

To be honest, Yao's "dream shake" didn't work. It was so slow Shaq had enough time to recover and contest the hook. Yao's arms are just so long that he couldn't get to it.

I know we all love the Dream and know that its tough for Yao to recreate his moves. Wouldn't Yao be better off doing Sky Hooks?

He did a hook move in Phoenix, it looked good.

I wasn't referring to the pivot. As he's driving and picking up the ball, he steps (1) right foot, (2) left foot, (3) right foot, then he pivots on his left foot. If he takes that first step with the ball in his hands, that's technically a travel. But the league gives players some leeway on that.

That's all that matters. Yao's never going to be as quick as the Dream, but he's damned tall. Nobody's ever going to be able to block his hook and inside four or five feet it's money.

    Negative.

The real Dream Shake was the move he went to right before his baseline fading turnaround jumper. It was literally a "shake" of his shoulders to freeze the defender.

    Egg Zack Lee™

It's the lower box turn around jumper where he could go either right or left.

Not long before this point of the game I had just remarked to Heen Ye that
I wonder what ever happened to Yao Mings foot work, because he hardly ever makes any serious moves to the basket these days, infact most times his feet are like blocks of lead. Then to my surprise and all the gamg at my place all of a sudden there is Yao making one of his Hakeem moves and showing Shaq just how it is done---- Go Yao! Go Yao! :p

The big question is did Yao just wake up from a bad dream??????????????

kind of OT, but I like hubie brown as a commentary. Whenever I see a great play, he always right there with me going "ooooh nice move/pass!!"

Its just very refreshing to see an old timer like him with still so much passion for the game

That wasn't a dream shake, at best it was a dream smoothie.

Please, don't insult the great one by saying that what Yao did was like anything he's done. Yao's arsenal is different than dream's, Yao WILL NEVER have dream's finesse, his quickness, his smoothness. Yao is very robotic, very patterned, but very consistent. They are way way different.

    12 years as a referee, and I agree with V3.0...not a travel.

Yeah. He basically jump stopped, establishing his left foot as his pivot, and then turned on that foot to lay it in. No violation.

P.S. Did you ever tip the jar?
